Mp3s skip and sound high pitched in PizzaPup - 1.05

I've got a hd install of PizzaPup on my Dell Inspiron right now. Yesterday I tried to play some mp3s, only to find that the playback was choppy, and sounded too high pitched. Why would this happen when I had no problems playing mp3s on my previous hd install of regular puppy?

Interestingly, mp3 sound is working fine now. The only difference I can think of is that I had been attempting to configure my wireless card...could this have caused the skips and high pitched sound?
