I've been loving this distro. I wish I had picked up the kde addon while it was up. If anyone can share it, that would be wonderful. I hope Mark is still around and this distro has not died!!

From what I'm reading in the forum, MU has left the Muppy project. Last I heard was that he would release a new version under a different name.
It is too bad.
A remarkable operating system which I use, with joy, daily.
The download links still work.

Thanks, but those links are for 8.3. Better than nothing, but an older version.
I have the mini, the addons and Office for this if anyone else needs them. I can put them on rapidshare.

Sorry. Never noticed that before. Wonder why the main site was never updated?

Does anyone have the 8.4 stuff?
I would be glad to host it if I could get it.
I wonder how, if possible, one can remove the minisys part of it...I never used it, and don't understand it.
I really, really like this version, and hope MU will be able to release more....he did an outstanding job.

I had re-uploaded it on my own server, unfortunately it is slower, so it is great to have other mirrors, too.
See this thread:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=35930&start=15
Myself I work on extending wows pup now:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=36802
But this is a private project, not by profession, so I have some different priorities than with Muppy.
You will however notice some common concepts

I came across this thread looking for more info on Muppy, glad I did.
I am just trying Muppy now for the first time and I had thought from looking at the Muppy page I got it from that it was a current project, but apparently not.
Now looking back I see the files I downloaded are dated as being updated as of December 2007, so that is over a year old. In my haste I was thinking they were December 2008.
This is the page I started with
http://puppylinux.org/wiki/archives/old-wikka-wikki/categoryderivative/muppypuppy
I assume that this is the same Muppy, and that the version 8.4c is the last new one?
If so, that is too bad.
I was really excited when I found this, but if it won't be updated and supported anymore I may have to keep looking for a more "robust" supported puppy.
Lighthouse gold looks promising and uses kde.
And of course I see that MU is now working on "Ultrapup" which promises to be very good once complete, so I will watch that project with anticipation.
I am currently using Buddapup-dingo with enlightenment, it is really nice and fast too.
Thanks,
Tom

Muppy-Live-008.4c-EN.iso Subject description: Burning a 764.5MB file? |
|
I like the Live-008.3-EN version very much so I downloaded the 008.4c-EN version. At 764.5MB even with overburn turned on using K3B I simply produce coasters. Should I be trying to burn this to a DVD? I could not find a check sum on line but I generally don't have errors downloading, even using dial up. Slow but I have successfully downloaded a lot of Puppy and other larger .iso's.

Burning CD iso to DVD |

Tried Brasero to burn 8.4c to DVD. Made another coaster. Will try K3B but am unsure which to choose, "Burn Cd image" or Burn DVD iso image"???

I found this message: "you have to use growisofs to burn it instead of cdrecord (wodim)."
K3B shows that it has growisofs, perhaps Brasero only uses wodim???

f51dc505c17167604ab8a18e8d27b981 Muppy-Live-008.4c-EN.iso? |
|
Burn CD image would not proceed waiting for CD media. Burn DVD iso image gave warning that image file size was incorrect.
Did md5sum: f51dc505c17167604ab8a18e8d27b981 Muppy-Live-008.4c-EN.iso
Can anyone confirm with an md5sum from known working copy of iso? Before I delete my copy and move on.
