StoredNetConfigs-1.4.2

#1 Post by gyro »

With "StoredNetConfigs" installed, it is possible to setup multiple network configurations, even when some of them are incompatible, if activated together.

"StoredNetConfigs" makes copies of significant files it finds in "/etc/network-wizard", so that they can then be removed from "/etc/network-wizard" with the "Uninstall" button, thus hiding them from "rc.network". Then only those required, at any one time, can be restored to "/etc/network-wizard" with the "Install" button.

After "Uinstalling" the current configs, a new config can be created by clicking on the "Wizard" button to run the normal Puppy Network Wizard.

The "Remove" button removes the selected configuration from the store.

When the software is installed, an item called "Stored Network Configs" is added to the "Utility" menu.

The screen shot, (storedNetConfigs.png), shows 4 configs in the store (the top list), but only 1 available to "rc.network" (the bottom list).

Edit: This is all done on a frugal install of Puppy 4.1.2

Edit2: uploaded new version, 1.3:
Fixes a couple of nasty bugs relating to missing devices.
Added "Restart" button. Now you can "Install" and "Uninstall" till the installed list looks right, then click "Restart" to make it all happen.
The pic is still the old one, the only change is a new "Restart" button below the "Wizard" button.

Edit3: new version 1.4
Moved to "Network" menu, rather than "Utility" menu.
Automatically "uninstalls" conflicting configs.

Edit4: changed file source to same place as my other stuff.

Edit5: attached storedNetconfigs-1.4.2.pet, created on frugal install of puppy 431, mostly cosmetic changes.
"Install" button is now "Enable" button.
"Uninstall" button is now "Disable" button.
