When I compiled SeaMonkey I replaced the default theme icons with icons from the seafox theme and had to use a small portion of the code for the menus, It saved a lot of space that way. no overlapping of images.

Hi
Getting some very strange behaviour
Pup_save file filling up very quickly with Seamonkey cache files and then when flushed - Puppy memory display still shows as nearly full (red warning)
After closing down and rebooting to Icewm - sticky notes start and cant be closed, so changed to Jwm.
Then blinky, asapm and sticky are no longer in tray but are minimised in top left of screen.
Changed back twice - still not able to close or use said offending items.
So will delete pup_save and start again.
Much muttering and festering.
However - Seamonkey much improved.
Best regards - Ray

I tested the installed Tcl/Tk apps and they worked fine |
The only ones I could find in the menu were a few Tk games that don't appear to use any Ttk widgets.
| Quote: | | [ . . . ] so I guess the problem is maybe in what you are trying to do with the package? |
No doubt--but what I'm trying to do with the package is pretty essential, "IMHO." For example, without Ttk, you can't conveniently set up a multi-column listbox or a progressbar, and you can't get scrollbars that at least look like the ones in the Opera classic theme or TextMaker, rather than antiquated Motif-like ones. I installed one of my programs (WISH Supernotepad) and tried to run it, but I got an error message about no Ttk.
| Quote: | | I have no idea about that one, so you should PM rarsa to have a look at it for both of us! |
Will do!
| pa_mcclamrock wrote: | | I tried to find the GTK2 Stardust theme in the "Chtheme GTK Theme Chooser"--I couldn't find it! Not good! I do not think the new theme with dark trapezoids for scrollbars is an improvement. Plus, the new look will repel people who don't like orange, such as my wife. I like orange OK, but not quite that much of it! |
A matter of taste but point taken. There should have been a whole host of Crystal Gtk2 themes there to please any palate. Did you not see or try those?[/quote]
In the "GTK+ 2.0 Change Theme" box, the only themes I see (other than the one I've already commented on) are:
Citrus-cut: too much like staring at the sun!
Gradient-grey: not ugly, but a bit monotonous.
Clearlooks and variants thereof: not bad at all, but they look almost exactly like the best of the Ttk themes--I thought GTK+ 2.0 was supposed to look better than Tk/Ttk! Please don't get rid of them, though; once Ttk is working, I'll be able to make things pretty uniform-looking for those who want them to be, simply by adding a color scheme like, say, "Clearlooks-Quicksilver" to my existing selection of Tk/Ttk color schemes, and making it the default for my "WISH" apps. (Speaking of which, are you still accepting proposed additions to 4.2 Unleashed?)
Default and Raleigh: both ugly and monotonous; these look almost exactly like the worst of the Ttk themes with no color enhancement.
On the bright side, I configured sound with no problem. On the dim side, I clicked the "Multimedia --> sGmixer audio mixer" menu item and nothing happened. Trying to run sgmixer from the command line, I got this error message:
| Code: | # sgmixer &
** (process:11775): WARNING **: Can't open /dev/mixer !!! Quiting ...
[1] 11775
[1] Exit 1 sgmixer
# |
Maybe I won't try printing yet--if you couldn't get it to work, I probably won't be able to either. Now to PM rarsa--onward and upward! Persevere!

zigbert,
please look at this post: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=37453
there are
- the latest gtkam
- the latest gphoto2 (cli-tool)
- gphotofs (fuse-driver for libgphoto2)
please test with this apps, if they work for you. if i remember right, we have always had this issues with gtkam. for me, it has always worked, for others always crashed. HairyWill reported, that in his case gtkam does not work but gphoto2 does. gphotofs works for me, it simply mounts my camera.
cheers

Ok the latest 'HomeBank' is on the first page now, 46 icons I had to change from svg to png, and then I had to rename 46 icons, then I had to make 46 system links, But the end result was
svg=1588kb
png=180kb
The whole package 183kb pet 9kb smaller than the older one in repo

I wondering if WhoDo used the ones I supplied for Gtkam and libgphoto, because they worked on my pc and even included a plugin for gimp the allows gimp to import/acquire images straight from the camera. A very nice feature indeed.

Hey David the clearlooks themes that I provided are default themes for most linux distros,
like Clearlooks-Quicksilver thats 14kb extracted or 1.4kb pet lol its just a simple text file with no images, bit you said 'but they look almost exactly like the best of the Ttk themes' Just you wait until I add some images to the taskbars etc. Then there be no going home. lol
ttuuxxx
ps go to /usr/share/themes and have a look at them, even the progress meter is animated, not bad at all for just a text file and no extras.
But i'm glad you like them, I think they look great too bad I didn't make them
ok time to test alpha 3
ttuuxxx <--- is booting up alpha 3 with the 13gigs pupsave file

I downloaded 4.2 alpha 3 yesterday, used Burniso2cd in my multisession 4.1.2 to burn it to a DVD+RW, then shut the computer down with the newly burned DVD in the drive. So far, it looks like all the settings and the programs I had installed in 4.1.2 were transferred to the 4.2 multisession DVD except NoScript for SeaMonkey, which I had to reinstall.
The analog clock and the calendar are a welcome addition. I found that I could drag the clock to a new location on the desktop. I wish everything could be dragged around the desktop like icons can.
Some of the icons on the left were a bit crowded when I booted the 4.2 DVD for the first time, and several icons on the right were partially beneath the analog clock. The 'drives' icons in the lower left corner overlapped each other, but were no trouble to separate by dragging apart. Everything stayed where I had dragged it when the multisession DVD was rebooted.
So far, Puppy 4.2 is a real winner!

Please put the stardust gtk-theme back in. It is a great eyecatcher and because it is so small. Better get rid of one of the clearlooks themes.

Ok guys here's The thing about clearlooks, Its more than a theme its a dependency by many programs like firefox, seamonkey, and will add stability to puppy if we keep themes, They look really nice and if you like say Stardust, etc. I'll convert them to clear looks to keep everything working smooth. OK
ttuuxxx
Ps you can find a lot of clear looks themes located at
here
and if they don't work, just tell me which ones you like and I'll have a look at them and see what I can do.

To be clear.
I don't mean drop all of the clearlooks themes, drop only one or two and put back in zigberts stardust gtk-theme.

The themes are like 1kb compressed no need to drop any of them, Zigbert stardust gtk-theme I'll convert over to clearlooks, Clearlooks is a gtk theme engine also, so converting gtk themes to clear looks should be all that hard. I'll try it right now. brb in a bit.

A few fixes required before it was posted would have helped.
Just too buggy.
Changing themes wipes out tray is a bug that should have been cleared by now surely.
I have a top dropdown menu that has 5 icons and vertcal lines. Hovering over lines gives text hint for other items. I presume the icons are missing.
Having the drive icons all over the place is confusing. I deleted from choices but somehow screwed up the placement now.
Clock takes ages to appear whereas in previous alpha it started up no problem.
Sorry guys, could be better.
