straypup,
Please plug in your wifi dongle and run this command -
Code:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

and report the "Vendor" and "ProdID" values for your wifi device.

Um, now that you mention it, it did look a bit short. Embarassed But who was I to question the word of the project leader who said it was "the package list"? Laughing

Speaking of package lists, have you got a packages.txt file and 0pkgs_db package for 4.2? I'll need them to select and list the user-uninstallable built-in packages for the 4.2 version of "Remaster Express."

I'm building my first pre-alpha4 at the moment. I'm planning on uploading Alpha4 late Sunday evening if I don't die of heatstroke from the 42 degrees C temperature predicted for Sunday.

Let me see, add on 18 degrees F above 32 for each 10 degrees C above 0, that's . . . yikes, almost 108 degrees, for Yanks accustomed to quantify heat in degrees "F" instead of "C"! Well, please don't incur any needless risk of heatstroke. (Too bad we can't ship you some of our snow to help you cool off!)

Good, because "late Sunday evening" to you is "early Sunday morning" here in the US, and I doubt that I'll actually get done today. But please let me have packages.txt and 0pkgs_db for 4.2 (if they exist), and I'll see what I can do pretty soon, if not today.

Ok WhoDo the new icewm package with the updated shutdown menu, with the new refresh in the default icewm menu, plus 8 themes now, lol
Did you know I added 2 new themes and the package on grew like 54kb, lol
anyways feel free to keep them or chop them, everything is done for icewm other than calling up the shutdown menu with ctrl+alt+delete oh well

If you want me to add then menu to rox I can or you can its easy enough, the icons and shutdown script are in the Icewm package, so really you just have to add it, hope you like the new look Wink .

icewm-402-v4.pet is the file your looking for on page 1

ps ElbergBlue-anim is double in size to any of my themes and then SpreadBuntu is around 50% larger than any of my themes. removing those 2 themes will take away 1/3 the total theme size out of 8 themes.

pss you can install it overtop the current icewm you have installed to test it.

Can the information "Puppy 4.2.A3" be automatically be picked up so that it does not have to be hard coded? So each new version is automatically reflected?

I have a packages.txt file for the current build but it's a moving target at the moment. I haven't even touched 0pkgs_db-4.20 beyond renaming the 4.12 version. I'm sure there is a quick way to create all of those .files files but I haven't even looked yet. Sorry.

Oh, I'm not complaining. Melbourne and Adelaide have had 42-45 degree days for almost a full week! I don't mind the temperature so much. It's the 98% humidity that burns my wick! Razz

If you need the incomplete versions, let me know. Otherwise it might be best to work around them for the moment. Once there's a feature lock on, those files should become stable and I can give them to you well ahead of Beta1.

Doh, wandering around with my eyes closed, thanks zigbert.

I hadn't noticed that both theme_switcher and gtk2jwm use the same tray code. In alpha3 theme_switcher was patched but gtk2jwm was not. New version attached, this is all that has been updated
Code:
#fixed by hairywill 20-01-09 handle case where linenumber/2 is zero
[ ! "$lineNumber" = 0 ] && sed -ie "$lineNumber"d  $TrayFile && sed -ie "$lineNumber"i"$blinkyline" $TrayFile
[ ! "$lineNumber2" = 0 ] && sed -ie "$lineNumber2"d $TrayFile && sed -ie "$lineNumber2"i"$xloadline" $TrayFile
#sed -e "$lineNumber"i"$blinkyline" -e "$lineNumber"d -e "$lineNumber2"i"$xloadline" -e "$lineNumber2"d $TrayFileBak > $TrayFile
 #end John Doe's code.

Yep. Cross-posting again! Rolling Eyes I've downloaded, installed and tested. It looks good. The only nit to pick is that you went with square corners on the title bar. If you pick up one of Albi's Dark themes, you'll get the rounded corners without really trying too hard. Wink ... or I could do it if you're too bored! Laughing

Thanks, Will. I wasn't sure if the two used the same code or not so I decided you would tell me if it was. Wink I'll include this in Alpha4 due for upload tomorrow PM.

Cheers

@ whodo

before the feature-freeze, here are some more recommendations:

- one of the steves requested for a soduko: here are gtksudoku and sudoku-savant. one small one advanced

- treesize is a nice and very useable gtk-du-tool and only 25 kb. You are able to direct open an analysed folder in rox or terminal.
- shell-fm is a cli-lastfm-client. very nice 32 kb
- cclive is a video-downloader (e.g. youtube) 17 kb. pcclive is al simple frontend i did with the pwget-code.

- maybe include the dependency-checker from big_bass (http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=38379)

- the fontcoulour on bootup (dark-blue) is hard to read. maybe change this to white?
- the keyboard map on bootup seems to be different to previous puppies?

oh ya i figured out something with icewm, you know how I removed the default green clock right WhoDo? and replaced it the crystal orange one I made so that any theme that doesn't have a clock and the default theme calls for a L.E.D clock it will use that by default. Now with the 'Bluemat' theme I made. it look pretty good other than the round ending, because it was black to match the other darker taskbars, so I had an Idea Idea lightbulb goes on, lol I'll use the deafult clock and only add 1 changed icon to the Bluemat theme clock folder, and guess what it worked, so its using the default clock but then it must use the actual theme clock as preferred preferences, so I got away with just 1 image to change the clock. that saved a bunch of space also.
