Next translated document

#21 Post by OzzyBB »

Hello all,

Just a quick stop to present my latest translation effort. As before, all you need to do is download the compressed file and extract it to "/usr/share/doc/HOWTO-network.html", AFTER making a backup of the original English language file.

I think I'll do this, after all.... I'm very glad to see the Spanish language Puppy gaining momentum, even if it's baby steps now.

Isntfunny is right, there's a whole lot of online material already translated and a whole lot more to be done.... and it's fundamental to establish priorities, avoid duplicate efforts, and finish each task properly.

Hoping this is helpful.

Warmest greetings,

Oswaldo

Hola Sirexel! Thanks for your help!

Translating on wiki is easy, you just go to the Puppy Wiki Home, there on top, you'll see links to different languages ("Language Support"). Click on Espa

My next two translations

#24 Post by OzzyBB »

Hello all.

These are my next two translated help files: "HOWTO-modules-es" and "HOWTO-microsoft-es". As you can see, they are both zip-compressed, as usual. As usual, you just need to download them, rename and backup the original English language files, then extract and replace.

Sirexel, welcome back! I hope we keep in touch!

Sounds great - potentially unused items can be removed in this way. Would this XML file support double-byte characters like Japanese? In this way, localised menus could be created of course. I think XML files are generally UTF-8 (unless otherwise specified) so in theory it ought to provided the font is there & system can support it? What do you think?

Yet another translation

#26 Post by OzzyBB »

Hello all,

Just a couple lines to present my latest translation, the HOWTO on Puppy programming. As usual, you make a backup of the orignal file, download my file, extract it and replace the previous one.

Finally got to translate OpenOffice 2.0!!!

#27 Post by Guest »

Hello All,

This is something I had wanted to do for a long time...and I finally did it! Thanks to KhlRevolutionist, I got Open Office.org 2.0, but only today I got to download and install the Spanish language pack for it. So, now we have Puppy with Open Office 2.0 in Spanish!!! It's so exciting, I'm gonna upload the whole thing... I just need to know where! Of course, I gotta do some housekeeping first:
1. Change the menu commands to point to Open Office 2.
2. Delete the Open Office 1.1.4 files.
3. Make sure all my translated help files (so far) are in place.
4. Create a new master CD.
5. Generate the ISO file.
5. Do the uploading.

I would really like to get some input on this...

CD remaster question

#30 Post by OzzyBB »

Hello all,

I do have one question regarding the "Remaster CD" script. As far as I've read, the script starts with the current Live CD packages, and lets the user choose from the available online packages before burning the new CD. My question is, what happens with the other files downloaded off the Internet? For instance, what happens with the Open Office files downloaded off the Internet as provided by KhlRevolutionist? What about any language packages? And, my translated help files? I understand they become part of the "pup001" file. So, how do I get them into my new Live CD?

Warmest greetings from Peru,

Hello Ted Dog.

Thanks a lot! Right now I'm doing some research.... rather learning to create ISO files and burn custom Puppy CDs. I'll let you know as soon as I have a working ISO file.
