Upgrade problem with 1.0.3

#1 Post by mdd »

The upgrade script is bombing for me when I try to upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3.

I've got a hard-disk installation, with Grub as the bootloader. When I boot from the 1.0.3 CD, run the install script, option 2, then pick upgrade, it tells me there's a catch22 problem since /dev/hda1 is already in use.

I can't see how that can be anything but the case when you're running from a hard disk, so I'm a little puzzled.

Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, boot the 1.0.3 live-CD with boot-option-2.

The splash screen shows option-2 as "No save to HD".
That will start Puppy without using any pup001 file on the hard drive,
so /dev/hda1 won't be "in use".

That did it.

Thanks.
