Super Mario War 1.7 AFE

#1 Post by battleshooter »

Super Mario War (Version 1.7 AFE, released Feb 25, 2009) - smw-1.7.pet 10 MB

http://smw.72dpiarmy.com/?q=node

Hi ya'll, WireWulf beat me to the gun and has got the latest SMW 1.8b over here. Check it out, it's got quite a lot of new features :D

This is another fun multiplayer game. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test it out with my siblings, but I did have a lot of fun by myself versing the computer. Loads of fun! :)

Super Mario War is a Super Mario Deathmatch game made as a tribute to Nintendo and "Mario War" by Samuele Poletto. The main goal is to fight your way to the finish by stomping other players, using familiar Super Mario powerups and out maneuvering your opponents, but there are many different modes with different goals.

The picture below is in the "Yoshi's Eggs" mode. Good fun, you're supposed to get the eggs and return them to Yoshi. Naturally you're trying to get more than your opponent, and stomping on your opponents head will cause them to drop their egg.

- Up to four players deathmatch fun
- a whole bunch of game modes (featuring GetTheChicken, Domination, CTF, ...)
- Comes with the leveleditor - you can create your own maps...
- ... and a lot of people did so. There are currently over 1000 maps
- More fun than poking a monkey with a stick
- The whole source code of the game is available
- uses SDL and is fully portable to windows, linux, mac, ...
- CPU Players
- will make you happy and gives you a fuzzy feeling

Requirements
SDL

Hmmm, sounds odd. I downloaded it just to be sure and tested it on a new pupsave. Worked fine. Not sure what's causing the problem. Here's the checksum:

29cfd98f92be598316f18b2a301061d3

If it still doesn't work, I have my suspicions. This file server's been being a bit weird... I might find somewhere else to upload my files.

So the game is multiplayer on one computer, correct? There is no online multiplayer or LAN? That would be quite delightful.

These remarks make me want to play this. :D
I'll be trying this game soon. 8)

AFAIK, there's no LAN multiplayer support. Maybe you should suggest it? A lot of people seem to want it too. Perhaps they'll add it in due to demand. It would be nice.

Updated the pet so the menu icon shows up and deleted some unnecessary files. Now it's 10 mb instead of 11 mb :)

This game is a family addiction

I have a 2 on one usb lead gamepad but only the first one is recognised...anyone have any clues as to weather its a linux thing (both are detected in epsxe) or this game (I checked their forum)

regards

I totally agree :) I can probably sing every tune :P

Sorry I can't help about the game pad, as I don't have one. I can't test it, I didn't even know it accepted game pads :)

No problem..I just stumbled upon the ability today :) when my 5 year old kept beating me :( .

I tried in gens and strangely enough the up and down on the second pad were not detected so I just swapped button roles so my other son could beat me at rock and roll racing..I despair.

In epsxe the analog controls were a little tricky to set up so perhaps it is a software thing after all.
And now wirewolf pops up with a new version so yer never know :)

No worries WireWulf. Funny thing is I was just over here to post the new one too. The new one's pretty cool eh? Quite a few new bits here and there . :)

sounds like what happens if using Xvesa rather than xorg .

If that is the case and you cannot use xorg a workaround would be to resize the screen before playing...its resolution is set at 640 x 480

Doesn't have to be, depends what the dude's talking about. Might mean there are black bars at the side of the screen that's what happens for me cause my laptop's wide screen.

The 'little' word threw my thought process.
Well since the size seems fixed I don't think there's a way without selecting a stretched screen resolution,
