As soon as you do that, when you run the jwm theme changer, it will show up. Then when you click on the theme you've made, it will change all the colors, etc.
Ahh, THERE's the key -- i didn't realize it would do that. Plus, your instructions on saving the ping are quite lucid. Thanks!

Things like the 'color' file and other obvious points I would gladly look to others for input/guidance...
Yeah, that color file is little confusing to me too :P but I have some idea what it does.

puppyluvr, I did pet for puppy-look earlier :)
http://puppylin.freehostia.com/jwmbluejay.htm

EDIT: It would be easier to post'em on my site if they were pets, this way I have to make pets first for all

:D Hello (again),
@ steve_s,

VERY NICE!!
Excellent "how-to"!!! :D

For extra "newbieness" I would add, at the start..

"Go to /usr/local/lib/X11/themes and choose a theme that has similar elements to what you want, IE, has gradiants or has a start button you like, ect, or just use the "Original" theme.
Right click on the folder of the theme you have chosen and select "copy".
Change the name to that of your intended theme, and click OK...
Then open the new theme folder and "hack away"...(see below)..
Save the result, and Viola, your very own theme... :D "

Actually you did misspell one icon name it's archive48 and not archiver, that one didn't change on theme switch. Fixed. ;)

Hey, crew…I realized that I had done both of these, that I liked ‘em so much I use ‘em regularly on my desktop, but that I hadn’t shared ‘em.

They are straight up mutations, putting green where there was blue.

The jwm theme is a mutation of WhoDo’s Vista theme, and I’ve labeled it (get this): Vista-green.

And the gtk theme is a mutation of one of the Clearlook gtk themes with 4.2 (Clearlooks DeepSky).

I’ll post the jwm theme on the jwm themes thread and the gtk theme on the gtk themes thread…so, forgive the double post (sort of) but each thread is a different deal…

Enjoy!

Tried making my own, using the JWM theme maker, to go with the 'Deep Thought' wallpaper:

WashedSands-jwmrc:
<JWM>

<WindowStyle>
<Font>DejaVu Sans -12</Font>
<Width>3</Width>
<Height>22</Height>
<Active>
<Text>#ffffff</Text>
<Title>#7e7e7e:#948c7a</Title>
<!-- <Corner>#7e7e7e</Corner> -->
<Outline>#191919</Outline>
</Active>
<Inactive>
<Text>#000000</Text>
<Title>#a5987a:#beae8a</Title>
<!-- <Corner>#a5987a</Corner> -->
<Outline>#191919</Outline>
</Inactive>
</WindowStyle>

<TaskListStyle>
<Font>DejaVu Sans -12</Font>
<ActiveForeground>#ffffff</ActiveForeground>
<ActiveBackground>#7e7e7e:#948c7a</ActiveBackground>
<Background>#a5987a:#beae8a</Background>
</TaskListStyle>

<!-- TRAY PROPERTIES -->

<TrayStyle>
<Font>DejaVu Sans -12</Font>
<Foreground>#000000</Foreground>
<Background>#7b7b78</Background>
</TrayStyle>

<!-- PAGER PROPERTIES -->

<PagerStyle>
<Outline>grey</Outline>
<Foreground>#beae8a</Foreground>
<Background>#a5987a</Background>
<ActiveForeground>#7e7e7e</ActiveForeground>
<ActiveBackground>#948c7a</ActiveBackground>
</PagerStyle>

<PopupStyle>
<Font>DejaVu Sans -12</Font>
<Outline>#191919</Outline>
<Foreground>#000000</Foreground>
<Background>#dddddd</Background>
</PopupStyle>

<MenuStyle>
<Font>DejaVu Sans -12</Font>
<Foreground>#000000</Foreground>
<Background>#7b7b78</Background>
<ActiveForeground>#ffffff</ActiveForeground>
<ActiveBackground>#7e7e7e:#948c7a</ActiveBackground>
</MenuStyle>

</JWM>
With WashedSands-colors :
MENU_BG=#7b7b78
ACTIVE_BG=#7e7e7e
FOREGROUND=#ffffff
PAGER_BG=#7b7b78
FG_SELECTED=#ffffff
I thought I'd include a screenshot, too:

I made a cool black theme , I call it 'DGmod'. Just a random name.

'Tis a perfect match for "Blue Carboon" gtk theme.

Nice Mick, also good with dark overglossed gtk theme, I made a similar darkish theme for my dpup, but it's more in vg-black style, I call it "Almost Black" lol. Menu button is also packaged inside, you can change it by editing your ~/.jwmrc file.
It installs in /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons/dpup-lin.xpm

Here's the theme.
