1.0.5 Xine won't play BBC radio

#1 Post by Mazzo »

Might be a bug, might not, but xine in 1.0.5 doesn't play BBC radio broadcasts. It gives the following error:

Error loading library: cook.so.6.0

It continues to download streaming media but stays on 4% buffering.

It used to play in 1.0.4 so I guess it's a problem.

I couldn't get many stations to play. Wolffm, virgin and BBC just don't.

you need to install the xine-extra-codecs using pupget ... 1.0.5 is a little slimmer than 1.0.4

Thanks GuestToo!

My mistake - I didn't know it was cut down.

Um, no there's a bug.
The live-CD does have cook.so.6, but it won't load.
I tried replacing it with another, but that wouldn't load either,
so I dunno what to do.
...just put it aside, will upgrade Xine soon.

sorry, i thought someone said the realplayer codec wasn't in 1.0.5

in that case, looking in /root/.gxine/config i notice that the path to the realplayer codecs is not set ... maybe that's the problem ... try changing:

#decoder.external.real_codecs_path:

to:

decoder.external.real_codecs_path:/usr/lib/win32

(notice i removed the # to uncomment the line)

you might also want to uncomment the line:

#decoder.external.win32_codecs_path:/usr/lib/win32

i haven't tried this, i'm not running Puppy right now

i could make a dotpup that would fix this with one click ... in fact, i have a dotpup with a few bug fixes, mostly fixes for missing icons ... i put most of the fixes in my Icewm menu dotpup anyway

ok, i just tried it, and all that was wrong was that the path to the realplayer codecs was not set in /root/.gxine/config ... i'm listening to BBC7 right now

Will this fix the inability to play:

Or is that a more significant challenge?

Thanks! doc

bug present in 1.0.7 too

The realplayer lib path was not set in 1.0.7, too, so xine fails playing cartalk radio show at cartalk.com, for example.

Setting the path in the config file, as described above fixes the problem.
