Subject description: Display in Firefox vibrates & %CPU jumps to 100%

No problem if I leave the theme at DeepThought...

But if I change it to some other theme...
CPU usage jumps to 100%, and the display in the window portion of the Firefox browser blips down and back up [by a millimeter or two] about 2 or 3 times a second.

"It's got the shakes, it's got the blippy, blippy shakes".

Just a tad more info required here, Sylvander. There are Deepthought themes for JWM (window manager, windows, taskbar), Gtk (inside windows), Icons (self explanatory) and Pwidgets themes (self explanatory).

Which Deepthought theme are you trying to change and where are you trying to change it? Which theme are you trying to change it to? Knowing these things will help us to track down the problem.

Either way, having your CPU spike to the max and stay there for any length of time can be fatal, so please be careful until we sort it out.

While the CPU cycles are up, is there also disk activity?

1. "Gtk (inside windows)"
Using Chtheme - GTK theme chooser.
(a) All themes except DeepThought behave badly as described.
e.g. I can choose each one in turn and apply it with the bad result, and it's only when I choose and apply DeepThought that the "blippy shakes" cease.

(b) Just noticed that if I don't have a Firefox window on screen [minimized], there is no bad effect when I change the theme...
And if I then maximize a Firefox Window [I have two running], initially there is still no problem.
It's only when I move the cursor around...
possibly over some "object"...
that the "blippy shakes" begin...
And the CPU usage jumps to 100%.
No increase in RAM usage, or Puppy file storage used.

2. "While the CPU cycles are up, is there also disk activity?"
How would I know?
A widget?
Which one?
I don't see or hear anything that suggests there is disk activity.

My Firefox is version 3.0.10, and I notice that here and there whilst working, all instances will close without warning.

This may be a problem with version 3.0.10 = a Firefox problem.
This firefox closing problem with 3.0.10 is being reported right now at www.pcguide.com/vb
