[OPEN] 4.2, 4.2x Locale Setting (With Workaround)

This is for bugs in a version of Puppy 4.x that is still under development. If you have bugs for a released version of Puppy, please post them in the forum's main Bugs section, not here. Bugs are when a program does not function as intended. Usability issues are not bugs.

[OPEN] 4.2, 4.2x Locale Setting (With Workaround)

#1 Post by DaveS »

Loading my Open Office database in 4.2 and 4.2.1, dates are all shifted back by 24 hours. This is usually an indication of Locale setting/time zone not set, but in this case, it has been, it just seems not to have taken effect properly. This is also happening with Ttuuxxx's 4.2 SUE and No Bling variants, but NOT with 4.2 SMP.
All 4.1x variants display correctly, as does Ubuntu.

Workaround
The problem lies in the timezone module. For some reason, setting it to GMT does not work. It looks OK, but behind the scenes, it reverts to the default setting, which is probably USA or something. The workaround is to select GMT +/- something, which works, but puts the time out a little. BUT. For some strange reason selecting by City, ie Europe/London sets it correctly.
