When editing text in AbiWord/Beaver I run into the behaviour that Ctrl-Right arrow and Ctrl-Left arrow do not take me to the beginning of the next/previous word. This is what I was used to both in Linux and Windows environments.

In stead the desktop is shown (or it might be that the next desktop is shown, not sure, not working from Puppy now....) in case of Ctrl-Right arrow. Ctrl - Left arrow takes me back to the editor.

Where do I change the command - Key mapping settings? Or am I missing something?

I assume that you are using Fvwm95?
Ages ago we had a problem with some keys that Fvwm95 had "taken over" ...it may have been the Home and End keys. We edited /root/.fvwm95rc to disable Fvwm95's control over them. There's probably a comment in that file where we did that.
Could probably do similar thing for other keys.

I had a related problem with shift key being intermittent, once I commented out those ctrl-arrow key combo key from the .fvwm95rc file my problem with intermittent shift key have gone away.
