humax 19dtt monitor/tv
humax 19dtt monitor/tv
I bought a a Humax LGB-19DTT monitor/tv
If I put any puppy cd in the drive it will not display, If I load xp it displays with error message if I load DSL it does work but takes ages to load, I spent a long time on the Humax phone line but could get no further with puppy,
my graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8x with the resolution set at the moment at 1024 by 768 in order to use puppy I have gone back to my old tv/monitor.

Thank's for the reply Aitch,
I'm booting from a DVD that I had burned when using my old monitor,
it takes 2 minutes to boot up with a 1024 768 resolution' during which time the screen is blank, I get no chance to set anything, at the moment I am running fire hydrant 3.01.
I can get on line print and browse but cannot save any settings.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your video hardware {TV}
This Sony does 1366 x 768, which is a widescreen format, and puppy uses the more conventional 3:4 aspect ratio
I'm sure that what you need, is a simple script to enable proper display, which I do not know how to do, rather than spend all that extra money on a [very nice] new TV
Can someone else help out here?

I have loaded DSL on my old pc using the Humax LGB-19DTT and it loads fine, when I try to load puppy I just get a screen message 'invalid mode' then nothing, I get no chance to adjust the screen resolution.
I have posted this using DSL. Is there a version of puppy that wil override this invalid mode and load like DSL?

I have loaded puppy dingo using xvesa at 1024 768 resolution I have a reasonable display but loading it is weird I still get the error message on screen saying invalid mode the screen goes blank until I hit the return key I can surf listen to radio and send emails. If I try to shut down and save the screen goes blank till I hit the escape key when it ejects the cd I get no info on whether it has saved or not.
Surely there is not on me having the problem?

using Humax 19dtt monitor/tv solved
I have got the humax working satisfactorily by saving puppy to a usb drive with xvesa on a separate pc, when I load this into the humax as always I get the error message on screen and the screen goes blank for 3 minutes I get puppy on screen at a reasonable resolution.

sorry to see you still having problems, freke
it is beyond my knowledge, yet I just know there is a simple solution
I believe it involves defining the video resolution in xorg and putting this in a script [grub?] which loads before the final attempt at displaying a desktop
there is probably also an equally simple command line code to type in dsl to show what drivers/modules are loaded, again, not my field
hopefully someone will be able to help
try googling the forum for video solutions and see who's name comes up, then pm them

I don't like giving people work, but maybe Hairy Will would be a good starter?
hang in there

Hi freke
I just checked - March 9th!!!
Maybe you posted in the wrong heading, eh?
I think maybe you should open a new post, in the beginners section [as more people read it!!] and maybe focus on your videocard running in puppy whatever version, such as;
Help needed: NVIDIA GeForce4; problem driving Humax 'TV as monitor' in Puppy 4 [or whatever you are using, & if it will fit! ]
If you explain the dsl setup, there are some probes that can be done to find out what is loaded and presumably, working, yes? [sorry I know of them, not what they are]
Both TV monitors you detail are modern lcd monitors - widescreen I think, so it may be there's a special setting needed in xorg setup, - ask
I'm sure you'll get an answer there
