you can easily set a solid background by right clicking a desktop icon and clicking Clear to remove the wallpaper ... then in the Rox-Filer Options (also by right clicking a desktop icon) , click Pinboard on the left and click the Background button, under Appearance ... this will allow you to easily set the background colour of the desktop. - This from GuestToo

That's because Rox sets the background on its own. When that package was made, the default background was stored somewhere else, so it doesn't use one. To change it, right click an icon on the desktop and drag the image you want to use to the box.

I wrote a script called "MoBettaWallpaperSetta" that can be found in the Additional Software forum. It fixes the walpaper setting script in the control panel menu so that it can set the wallpaper in Rox 2.3.
