Acrobat Reader 5.0.1 for Fat Puppy

#1 Post by figueroa »

The Adobe Acrobat Reader INSTALL script fails at the very end, but the only thing left undone by the script is editing the startup script in /installdirectory/Acrobat5/bin/acroread.sh

The INSTALL script fails because it tries to call 'ed' but there is no 'ed' in Puppy. What it wants 'ed' to do is change one of the first lines in "acroread.sh" to point to the installation directory, which you can do manually. It should look like:

install_dir=/opt/Acrobat5/Reader

(I installed AcroRead in /opt/Acrobat5 and "Reader" is the directory that needs to be on the end of the path.)

The one other thing that the INSTALL script does is rename acroread.sh to acroread, which doesn't really matter. You can name it anything you want as long as you call it correctly when you want to use it.

Anyway, Acrobat Reader 5.0.1 seems to work perfectly in Puppy 1.0.1. It adds about 12 megs to your installation.

Have you tried to set this up in 1.0.2 or 1.0.3 yet.
