How do you use the sound bottons to raise the volume?

#1 Post by battleshooter »

Hi everyone,

I'm back with a new problem :?

It puzzles me that no one else seems to have came up with the same problem as me: Wanting to use the inbuilt sound buttons to control volume. I've got sound and all that, but the buttons don't have any bearing on the volume. I don't mind using aumix, but I don't know what the buttons would be called so I can program them into icewm.

Using Compaq Presario M2000. (A laptop)

Thank ye :)

Maybe you are after Sven (it is for multimedia keyboards and stuff).
Or maybe not.

If you run xev in a terminal, and then press the buttons, does it recognise them?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

Perfect Disciple!

Thanks so much! Sven is exactly what I'm looking for. I need to tweak it, but from a glance it seems to be what I need. Thanks!

Xev can't be found when I tried to run it from the console on my Presario. A search of the HD (full install) only brings up libXevie libraries(?).

I'd like to map some buttons but don't understand why xev can't be found. Any thoughts?

I guess it's probably too late to help you, but maybe it will help someone else since it's so hard to find:
xev isn't included in some recent puppies - I think it has been relegated to some petget package of Xorg extras.
You can also find it at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 431#244431
