What driver to use for ADI AD1985 onboard sound? ALSA!

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

What driver to use for ADI AD1985 onboard sound? ALSA!

#1 Post by ip_standing »

First off, I'm a fledgling. Only been using puppy for about a day and a half.

Self Built Sys:

Puppy Multisession DVD (as recommended)
WinXP Pro SP2
P4 2.6G HT
1GB Geil DDR 400
Lite On Dual Layer DVD
Alastor Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE AGP with 128M DDR
MoBo is: Asus P4P800 Deluxe
Sound is onboard ADI AD1985
Logitech X-230 Speakers (2-channel, sub driven)

My question/problem:
I'm not getting any sound. The onboard sound card is being found by Puppy as being Intel Analog Devices SoundMax (8086:24d5). So it loads the i810_audio driver. I've tried using modprobe to unload the i810_audio and load all sorts of sound drivers but can't seem to find one that actually says AD1985. I dunno where to go from here.
The speakers do work fine under WinXP Pro, so I know they do actually work. Could it be a problem with Puppy not liking my speakers because they're sub driven?
Any ideas?

Thank you for your quick, concise, and very accurate response. That did the trick. I downloaded and installed alsacfg-1.0.10-1226.pup and it fixed the problem almost straight away.

If this is the type of community that develops with Linux, I think I'm going to enjoy my stay. LoL

Thanx again Flash.
