tried the app in Barrys pps422. Won't work for me, it opens gxine window then changes to a square black screen at top left of my screen.
I have to stop the app to exit.
Shame, looked good.
Hope all's well with you. |
I'm ok Rob, thanks
I already reported to Barry, it's not a problem with pstreamvid, it's the problem with gXine itself in 4.3prebeta, can do full screen from GUI but not from commandline ( -f opt). works fine with other puppies with older gXine
But I only can help to report, can't help o track the bug

1. "a. look for inside /usr/share/applications/pstreamvid.desktop if found click on it "
No such file exists.
2. "b. If still can't run, go directly to the file /usr/local/pstreamvid/pstreamvid and click on it "
Again...
No such file exists.
There IS a single file in /usr/local/pstreamvid, named "functions" = "executable".
3. I searched within Pfind using the string of characters pstreamvid.desktop, and nothing was found.
So I shortened it to pstreamvid, and only 2 items were found as shown in the screenshot below.

It seems you haven't installed pstreamvid.pet, but only the patch for pstreamvid mplayer but not the pstreamvid.pet itself...
Ok, go to main post:
1. install pstreamvid.pet (under the picture, not above the picture), check again if those files I mentioned earlier exists
2. If you want to use mplayer, you install again the patch for mplayer (above the picture)
All should be well then

Trio;
Thanks for adding Mplayer to Pstreamvid.
I use mu's rc2-412 Mplayer from here,
http://dotpups.de/puppy4/dotpups/Multimedia/
just ignore dependencies.
Never could get Nasa video through Gxine.
How would I add streams from "Delicast.com", or "Archive.org."?

1. You are welcome, enjoy the show!
2. Easy to add streams, so long as you have the stream's url, n but seriously..go to first page, there's a link there to go to puptv's thread, there's a streamsniffer by
ttuuxxx. Try that to sniff streams in a website
Cheers

OK...
1. "Menu->Multimedia->Pstreamvid" now present in the menu, and the program runs OK, and it was really easy to display the NASA video for example.
2. As soon as the installation of pstreamvid was complete there was displayed [and continues to be displayed at certain times, like at end of boot] a warning as shown in the screenshot below.

Success.
I ditched gxine and loaded mplayer plus the patch. Worked first time, just need some more channels now.

Sylvander,
I don't know openbox...also I can't see the error message has got anything to do with pstreamvid, maybe something you installed? Mplayer?
Rob,
Yeah, pity that the gXine in 430pre-beta is faulty from terminal/commandline. I wonder if Barry will fix gXine or just simply remove pstreamvid?

Hello Bro,
Maybe as a temp fix you can start gxine windowed and toggle with "F", it works. I removed "-f" option in your code and it's ok. Not the ideal solution I know, but at least it works!
Cheers

Yeah, I also post a better little workaround in he 430 prebeta bugs thread, not really a fix. /usr/local/pstreamvid/functions, line 14:
Code: |
NEWCHANNEL=`cat /usr/local/pstreamvid/channels/$CHANNEL`
exec gxine --geometry +0+0 "$NEWCHANNEL" & |
and
/root/.config/gxine/config, line 27:
Code: | gui.window_size:200% |
It will make gxine to open 200% window and right at top left corner, but not really full screen streched.
Edited.

Using mplayer and your redirecting pet (gxine to mplayer), pstreamvid 1.0 works on an asus eee 900 on 4.3 prebeta. Until the mplayer installation, gxine would crash w/ 4.3 prebeta
Another benefit: video files play much better on mplayer, with lower cpu usage.
Many thanks for a great app,
Jake

You're welcome Jackfish, I still try to find workaround (above) if, just if the gxine is not fixed by Barry. The thing is gXine is included in puppy and mplayer is not

Just installed Mplayer and your patch in Puppy 4.22 and everything works fine.
Thanks for the quick fix to the problem.

Looks like I've fixed the problem in /root/.config/openbox/menu.xml
Was line 442, now line 445.
Faulty line was:
<action name="Execute"><execute>/usr/local/pstreamvid/pstreamvid &</execute></action>
Good line is:
<action name="Execute"><execute>/usr/local/pstreamvid/pstreamvid</execute></action>
Just copied the form of other similar lines.
Can't figure out how to add new channels to the list of available channels.
Tried reading page1 of this thread, but so far have had no success in finding/adding URL's. [Don't know how]
Have installed Streamsniff.pet, but so far it never finds anything.
