if you have a frugal installation, try to replace wows initrd.gz with mine.

If swap works then, there must be a slight change I made inside it.
This would help to find the difference.

It's not on a usb drive and replacing the initrd.gz does not work either. Very strange!

I have a problem related to 3D acceleration, it is safe to update xf86-video-ati, xf86-video-intel and libdrm without updating drm kernel modules?

EDIT: Decided to use libdrm_2.4.4-0ubuntu6 and keep 2.6.28.5 drm modules.

Another nice feature of this Puppy that I found when all attempts with other Puppys failed is support to my MANHATTAN USB Modem out of the box.

In windows, I could use a "Resource Editor" to remove an icon from an executable file. Is there any such editor available for Linux? Maybe I could patch the current file.

Would this be good to use with my Acer Aspire 5535 laptop?

It has an Atheros b/g/n/ wireless for which I believe I need the ath9k drivers.

Is there a home page for "unnamed" where I may view the features, please?

OK, went ahead and tried Fatdog 112 and it handles the Atheros wireless-n with ath9k.

The Acer Aspire 5535 is working OK under Puppy.

I find that one of the main features of this Puplet, is that it works very well with modern hardware. Supports dual core and hyper-threading off the bat if I recall correctly. It's a good bonus it looks real cool too

From the 9 pages it appears as though Unnamed is still in Beta - lots of bugs.

I have inquired if Fatdog 112 uses the dual-core properly.

There are some bugs, but overall it works fine.

I see the unnamed puplet or newyearspup (that is based on unnamed) as a usually full working version between Puppy 4 and Puppy 5 alpha.
You just may encounter probs in special cases, e.g. when doing multisession remastering of CDs.

Often, you will encounter even less problems than in standard Puppy, because of the newer files (Gtk, Kernel, xorg).

With Puppy 5, we also will have newer libs, kernels and even more features like full Ubuntu compatibility.

Until Puppy 5 becomes stable, unnamed/nyp are my main desktop system.
In the company where I work, we currently use nyp as rescue system LiveCD to backup files from broken servers.
