Hi,

This is a Tool for downloading youtube videos:

dependency: rxvt

Version 2.1.4 - Updated engine April'11 (thx to Mr. Arif again and Dougal) 2 versions available, for general puppies and for lupu520/wary (with urxvt embed option)

IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN END OF MARCH 2011

Version 2.1.3 - Fixes if there's "/" in title, 2 versions available, for general puppies and for lupu520/wary (with urxvt embed option)
Version 2.1.2 - Only for LUPU 520/wary (or any puppy using urxvt with -embed option), rxvt now embeded in you2pup window, option to abort (see picture), non-resizable window
Version 2.1.1 - For general puppies, Change gxmessage with Xdialog for warnings, use /tmp folder for tmp file, a bit cosmetics when in rxvt

Update-Stopped working again (May 2010)
still works with new site of youtube (April 2010)

Version 1.3-2 - Fixes if the vid ID begins with a dash, it won't download. (e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=-sulDYYAiCU) (thx to Kenhelm)
- Note: Always use one word file name for new downloaded file
Version 1.3-1 - rearranged GUI
Version 1.3 - Play function added, off course after you download/convert first
Version 1.2-2 - using rxvt to command ffmpeg (convert function)

For people running Firefox extensions like "Download helper" should be more convenient... not sure if any of them work in Seamonkey.

New, considering that the new flv from youtube can't be played even in VLC, I modified you2pup to download in mp4 which can easily played. see main post

I don't see the need for it.
It's simpler and faster to use this method.

Maybe not for you, I always think to make puppy easier for newbies, and non-technical users, that is to create GUIs. So, maybe somebody will see this useful

The method in that link worked the first time I tried it and every
time since for months now.

Your new widget will be nice, but I,m mostly concerned with
seeing the capabilities of pstreamvid expanded and perfected.

thanks Lobster, I used that method to choose DIR in PET MAKER .. anyway, maybe you're right, newbies have to be guided through the whole process, even forced to choose a right directory...

just another option, seamonkey has a addon which takes you to:
http://dys.lexal.net/flv/downloader.php? (it's free despite all the pay signs.) worked the couple of times i tried it for youtube. at other sites not among those listed there which mask the swf location, failed to download the swf file.

edit: as with videodl.org as soon as i posted it to this form it now also fails to get youtubes

i do not recall now about youtube, but i use flashgot addon for seamonkey to download flash video from many sites easily

Sweet! Not to show my age but this is one of my
favorites even thought it's dated and not the best
quality.

Everything works fine. And is where I would expect
it to be under Internet because it is an Internet app.
