This site has some real nice Gimp tutorials
http://www.webdesign.org/web/raster-gra ... 17137.html
The particular one of interest is a Neon-Glow font effect, you need this very small font package below and follow the example, When I have some spare time I'll try it out.

Hi

ttuuxxx i hope you don't mind me adding this here, but it seems like the most appropriate place for it.

The attached (linked) tutorial is an Anglicised/Edited version (by me)
of a tutorial (in polish) that i found here: http://www.gimpuj.info/animacje/zaawans ... 112.0.html
So full credit goes to the original author: Kifer71

It shows how to create an effect like that shown below: (or that in my sig)
Image

In order to follow this tutorial, you will need to have the GIMP Animation Package (GAP) installed.
I use GIMP 2.4.6 and created this: gimp-gap-2.4.0.pet it is 10MB (compiled in Puppy-4.0 k2.6.21.7)
md5sum
User = puppy
Password = linux

It is also NOT for the faint hearted, as it will take the best part of 1 hour to complete it.

Download and unpack this file Advanced_Image_Rotator-Tutorial.tar.gz somewhere,
then click on the file: Advanced_Image_Rotator-Tutorial/rotator.html

Hi I found 1000 Gimp brushes http://www.junauza.com/2009/10/25-aweso ... -free.html
how to use them
extract them into a directory and find the gbr files, the first set as an example the brushes are located in /damnicons_vector/gbr
copy all the brush from /damnicons_vector/gbr to /usr/share/gimp/2.0/brushes and restart gimp
