Hi Mike,

I don't think so, reasons:

- recently youtube changed their website format, many of the downloaders (easily get from internet) won't work anymore
- its dependencies are big
- I have to change you2pup overall, maybe even better to make a new one

Thanks

Are we talking about the same application?
Just checked on youtube...still ok

Code: Select all

sh-3.00# ldd /usr/bin/cclive
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libcurl.so.4 => /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4 (0xb7ec4000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7dc9000)
        librt.so.1 => /lib/librt.so.1 (0xb7db6000)
        libssl.so.0.9.8 => /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 (0xb7d7c000)
        libcrypto.so.0.9.8 => /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 (0xb7c5b000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb7c57000)
        libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0xb7c45000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7efb000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7c30000)
confused

Mike,

Did I misled you? I said "many" , have not test the app you proposed. We can rule out reason no 1 then? What about no 2 and 3? :lol:

2 ...the list of dependancies is above
3 .. fair enough..just thought you might be interested...and anyway I will revisit my gui for it because I should :) ...add proxy support and use xdialog instead..not as good but hey....

after a 2 restarts and a few menu reloads you2pup-1.3-1.pet was then then to be seen in the INTERNET menu. downloaded a universal.miss-tube and viewed better than any previous tube with the default download file format.
thanks trio. perhaps some defaults in folder and name sections to save some typing in those fields. agree with BK should be included in future puppies. any legality issues though?

Hi trio,

thanks for your work developing you2pup. It works well to produce mp4's but the converter fails with unsupported codec for dvd

I would like to put several clips together and burn them to a DVD for my grandson.

There is nothing on puppy to do this starting with mp4's.

Regards Tony.

Tony,

Well, I am using 430 beta and all functions works. But, it may fail if the puppy you use doesn't have the codec needed. Try puppy package manager to look for ffmpeg codec or google it.

Cheers

Hi trio !
On Acer Aspire One it connects to the URL, tries to locate the video file, and then, nothing happens.

eztuxer,

i don't think there's a problem with you2pup or the type of computer you are using matters, if it opens rxvt then it should be good, but:

1. Few youtube's URL can't be downloaded (I had one URL that can't be downloaded, dunno why, URL spesific), try other URLs, and see if they work
2. Internet connection is also a main issue

I am not in puppy right now, but you2pup uses youtube.sh as the engine ( I think it uses wget in its process), so you might also want to check your wget function and curl function

Regards

Hi trio,

This puppy thread helped regarding missing libraries :-

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=43455

ffmpeg as loaded for the pup4 package manager does not contain all required library files.

I have one dependency to go libx264.so.60

All this has been a bit of a nightmare really.

Regards Tony.

Tony,

Which pup are you using anyway? Why don't you download 430 betaw (or soon beta2) as puppy is so easy to install in minutes.

Yeah, ffmpeg is a pin in the ass if not complete, I think 4.2.1 is also not complete (in my experience)

Hi trio,

used pup 4.2.1 with 2.6.25.16 kernel.

I got all dependences sorted but crashed out with GLIBC_2.7 not found.

So back to the drawing board.

HI trio,

I downloaded and installed puppy-4.3beta1-k2.6.25.16-r4.3.iso.

It ran you2pup and converted to DVD no trouble at all.

Regards Tony. (on Dell Inspiron5150)

Tried 4 different URL still the same, although I have ffmpeg.pet installed.

Could be my cheap 20 KB/s connection.

It really sucks, can't download my favorite guitar lessons http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Jus ... iew=videos anymore.

What could I change in wget parameters to make it work ?

If you are still stuck I just downloaded flv and mp4 from here with cclive 0.3.1.

I'm not sure if the pcclive gui still works with the latest version but it can be used from the command line or the gui later in the thread.

You tube also vary the page format depending on region just to make life awkward.
