PostPosted: Thu 17 Apr 2008, 11:57    Post_subject:  Ad-Hoc Share Internet connection
Sub_title: From puppy 3.01 to Windows Vista

I have something like this:

CABLEMODEM -> [<eth0> PUPPY DESKTOP <wlan0>] ... Vista Laptop (Wireless Connection)

I currently get internet in the puppy box, and I connect both machines with an ad-hoc connection.

I can ping from Vista to puppy, but no from puppy to vista.

It is possible to share internet using puppy's firewall (sharing internet connection)

Any clues?

Is your cablemodem wireless (note I have a wireless connection in my laptop which is eth0) If yes you don't need the wlan0 connection.

One possible reason for that could be that the Vista default firewall does not answer pings. I don't know Vista, so that is just a guess, but I am fairly confident Vista does have a default firewall turned on.

Yes, you are right.. the "Windows Defender".

Nevertheless I set up the shared internet connection without any problems.

Now I have my puppy desktop working also as a wireless router.

Thanks all in this forum!

It has been a long time since that... the dog is dead, I'm using a linksys wireless router for a while now.

I remember that I made a bash script to get iptables modified (just a couple of lines).

Let me know if it help
