Get gcc and g++ compiler for Puppy

#1 Post by Pradip »

Hello all
I am using Puppy linux(1.0.7). Its really cool. I like its size and spped of running linux. Thats why I also tried to compile a little application, to test the performance of that. But when I configure's, it gives me error like " Checking whether c compiler works ...no" .
and when i gives command at prompt ,
gcc
then it tells "command not found".

so its clear that gcc is not installed.

Now the question is from where can I get gcc and g++ compiler ?
I mean from where to download?
Waiting for reply.

ya thanx
I got it.
steps are ..
1. Download the sr_devx.sfs
2. Copy the downloaded file to the in a Hard Drive installation to the / folder.
3. Reboot puppy.

one more problem. Can you tell me the video drivers for 1.0.7 Puppy linux?. Are they installed by default or we have to compile from any module source of video driver and then instal???

How to check that video drivers are available??

thanx in advance.

We have just moved from xvesa(still included) to xorg (which I believe has some support for the more common cards)

For best performance drivers can be compiled but someone else may be able to provide info on that . . . I don't know how to go about it

Welcome to the kennels. Be kind (it seems to work)

Puppy contains x.org-drivers for most graficscard.
The xorg-wizard should detect the correct one automatically.

To achive higher speed, you need to install DRI (DirectRendering Interface)-Drivers manually:
