connecting printers over a network

#1 Post by davesurrey »

I've never connected a printer to Puppy before. Now trying to connect over a local network to 2 printers which are connected to a PC running windows xp.

Initially I've managed to find the drivers so that Puppy 430 can connect to these printers locally. But can't do this over the Lan.

I'm using CUPS and when I get to "Admin>Device" I select
Windows printer over samba
But not sure what to do next at the box "Device uri" wher it says
smb
Any help, guidance appreciated.

Has anyone else done this before?

Dave

T_Hobbit.
Well after a few false starts I tried

Code: Select all

smb:192.168.0.4/cubexp/SamsungM
which is the IP of the windows PC to which the printers are connected, the PC's name as per Pnethood and the printer's name as per the Windows PC....... and it worked!! :-)

Muito obrigado
