Can Puppy on CD or USB boot from floppy?

#1 Post by papaschtroumpf »

I'm an occasional knoppix user so puppy on a USB key seems to be the nex t logical step since it's so much easier to carry.
I have ran into computers that couldn't boot from the CD and I'm guessing it's even more common to run into computers that don't boot from USB.

knoppix has the ability to boot from a floppy and run knoppix from there.
Is there an equivalent for the USB key under puppy?

This way I could have an image of the floppy along with a copy of rawwrite so that I could recreate the boot floppy anywhere as long as I can borrow a blank floppy.

or given a USB copy of puppy, is it possible to recreate an ISO to burn and boot from?
probably stretching it as little there, but I don't want to carry a CD, but I want even less to be stranded because some computer won't boot from USB

that is exactly what I was asking for, thanks!
Too bad my paltop at work doesn't have a floppy, so I can't check it.
Will do it at home later
