8) removal is one thing. How difficult will they be to add later on?
People very soon forget they downloaded a barebones and start asking why it does not support sound etc.

The programs that makes use of sound XMM and the other players would be rather lame without sound. So I would say keep it in if you have anything left that needs it.

The audio players (except wavplay) are gone, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to remove the libs too, but I thought it might be going a little too far. So I figured I'd see what people think.
Yes, they're easy to put back. Just Pupget them! That's the beauty of using PupBeGone to remove stuff: Pupget can put it back.

EDIT: If I don't hear anything about the audio stuff by tomorrow afternoon or so, I'm tearing them out. The other two I think I'll leave in unless I'm persuaded otherwise.

Until now I have been disappointed with all the remastering apps for puppy. They either require to have a large ext partition or large amount of memory. Both of with are not possible on my system (must be the case with many others). However I once remastered my usr_cram.fs from the live cd without the need for either of these

I used a 256 Mb pupxxx file (with sufficient space to extract usr_cram.fs) + 128mb (most of which is already filled with puppy) + 256 Mb swap . Extracted my usr_cram.fs to a temporary folder and yanked files I did not need. (removed mozilla)

Now, Only if edited versions of pupbegone and pupget can be made to remove packages from and add packages to this extracted usr_cram.fs, things would be so easy. A painless remaster.

That seems more suited for Pizzapup than Empty Crust.

Sounds like how HackyRemaster works. It sets up a filesystem image (like a pupfile) on the harddrive (so any filesystem useable by Puppy will work). Then it extracts the entire Puppy fillesystem to it. When you're done, it puts everything back togeather and remakes the iso. Depending on what you're doing, it might wind up needing 400 mb. That's just a guess though. It needs to store the image file (Puppy gets big when decompressed), the iso, and the new iso.

My next goal after Empty Crust is to integrate PupBeGone and maybe Pupget into HackyRemaster. I need to spruce HackyRemaster itself up a little bit too.
I'm not sure if I'll do it before or after Personal Pan. Probably after, because I've been itching to do Personal Pan for months now.

Sorry, I ment to have the rc up Monday, but I've been swamped with homework all week. Essays, myth cards, unit reviews, etc. I read all of The Prince yesterday. But now it's the weekend, so I'm getting this done with. I should have the rc finished tonight, so I can upload overnight. So if you have a problem with my removing the audio and leaving the burning libraries, now is the time to speak. Or type, in this case

EDIT: I'm leaving tcl in too. Turns out it's tied into more than I'd like to remove. Like Mut and kp. And a bunch of the dialup programs.
