How do I make a PupGet? (For Puppy with Firefox+modules)

#1 Post by JontomXire »

Hi.

I want to build a custom puppy distro with Firefox with a few plugins already installed. I reckon the easiest way to do this is to use FireFox to download and install the plugin from the net. Then re-package FireFox as my own custom PupGet package and use it when building a custom distro.

Can anyone:

A) Point me at a detailed set of instructions for creating a custom Puppy distribution and how the PupGet files are used? The basic instructions say to download and use them all, but I don't want them all.

B) Advise me how to package up a customised installation of an app for use as a PupGet to put into a custom distro? I think I might get it to include my most common bookmarks as well.

Thanks,

JX.

you can download Firefox and unzip it (or use the installer) ... it should unzip everything to one folder

you can name the folder whatever name you like, and put it anywhere ... if you put it somewhere in /root, it will be on your hard drive ... if you put it somewhere in /usr, it will also be on your hard drive, but it could be in an unleashed package, in which case it would be put in usr_cram.fs and be on the cd

you can add bookmarks to bookmarks.html in the defaults/profile folder

you can add extensions in the extensions folder, and they will be pre-installed

just putting it in the sticky post would help.

Also I just discovered the ""user contributed" dotpups section on the wiki (not GuestToo's)
