Puppy 4.3.1 goes to sleep Subject description: No save to pup-save on shutdown
On two PCs one with dual 64 bit processors and one with a 32 bit processor.
Both loaded with 2 GB of ram and Puppy 4.3.1
Both started with nosmp parameter in sysconfig
Frugal install on a 1-4GB usb flash drives
If the computer has be sitting idle for one or more hours
Occasionally the icon for the flash drive with Barry's Puppy 4.3.1 disappears.
The clock stops
The cursor still moves
The keyboard still works
Plugging in a new external USB flash drive it is not seen -- no icon appears.
When you shut down, the pupsave file is not updated.
It just shuts down immediately.
On the next boot, the Flash Drive Icon (sdb1) may or may not appear.
It may or may not update the pupsave file on immediate reboot.
This seems to repair itself after 2-3 reboots and acts normal again for a day or so.
This is occurring on two different computers. Both Flash Drives were created via the Universal Installer from a verified CD of Puppy 4.3.1.
We have not detected a pattern for this behavior other than the PC needs to be on and idle for over an hour. It is not consistent.
We do have problems with our internet connection dropping. This may be related to the DHCP lease issue. I don't know if this is a contributing factor.
When the computer has been idle for over an hour AND the internet connection is still seems to be active, the above problem is not present.
Any clues as to what to test or what to look for would help.
Be specific on any commands you want us to run.
