Of course I like Puppy, What's not to like? However, finding answers to sometimes simple questions takes more time then I'm willing to spend, so I limp along running on only two cylinders stead of four.

I've got a little cash and would be willing to part with it for "answers". How could that be made to happen?

P.S. - So much of the very worthwhile info on the forum is dealt with using arcane programming lingo (for someone like me). Further, while the search engine is good, often you've got to muddle through all kinds of other discussions that are sometimes hard to follow, also, for someone like me. If Puppy is to ever grow into a "wolf", it must meet "the masses" at least half way. That's why Mr. Gates has been paid his billions, because he took all this "arcane lingo" and hid it behind easily understood (to the unwashed masses) little "pictures" called icons.

In that regard, some type of little add on (pup-get etc.) that would give a well thought out (not wordy) explanation of each entity with possibly a "link" to a complete explanation might be worthwhile. Fer instance, I'm having a devil of a time figuring out something that I know will be simple. The "console" in Puppy. I can find no documentation that will tell me how to "paste" a line I have to use every log on in order to get my "anonymous" service running.

Just some thoughts from a guy who hasn't yet waded very deep into the forest. Thanks & BTW, you guys are doin a hell of a job.

Thanks Alienjeff. I would've gladly paid twenty bucks for that answer: you just "copy" then use "shift and insert". So simple. I wasted hours searching for some type of documentation or something.

While I'm at it, theres a great little piece of software, no , "wonderful" piece of software called "FreeMind". Barry claims one of the add ons in the Pupget list (I forget which) will do almost the same thing. I downloaded it. It's OK but doesn't nearly measure up. In fact, the only reason I keep Windows is because I can run freemind on it.

Now, imagine the whole (complex) forum cataloged using freemind. Freemind is intended to make the "complex" manageable via a treelike mindmap. It might not obviate the seach engine, but it could take all posts of a particular narrow topic and connect them all in a flowing, logical order. Just a thought from Cougar

Middle click on the mouse works, too.

if you are using the same command in the console every time, and you are saving your session on logout, you should be able to press the up arrow and it will come up with your last entered command. If you keep pressing up, it scrolls through all the previous entered commands too. That can be very useful if you've done something before, and can't exactly remember how to do it again.

you can google the program to find the home page of the program containing screen shots and full documentation

most full distros have everything you need already installed
and are easier to start with

the point here is packages can have a simple description of what they do but what is more important is what other programs are needed
to make it all work correctly

If you review this thread, I answered one of the OP's questions.

You tacked on the bit about a trackball mouse. I don't own one and don't plan on buying one.
