To install, follow the instructions for Puppeee Linux, as the process is the same. You need to download all the Puppeee files, except use the BrowserLinux version of eee-435.sfs.

Hi,
Just downloaded and boot browsereee on my acer. It booted up fine found my network and connected and allows me to use all of this tiny screen. This is different from most puppies (including puppeee) I have tried on this machine recently. Suspend also works fine. I will be trying to figure out what is different about this version. Firefox certainly has a different toolbar which is missing several options that I am used to.

Probably the kernel upgrade is responsible since I didn't modify X windows except to update the synaptics driver. That means the new Puppeee will probably work as well.

You can uninstall the Meerkat addon if you don't like it but I find it's invaulable on a netbook. The menu is there, just click the arrow in the upper right corner.

I did include the rt73usb module. If you modprobe for it, does it give an error?

Edit: Apparently it needs firmware. Download the firmware from here http://www.ralinktech.com/license_us.php?n=2&p=1&t=U0wyRnpjMlYwY3k4eU1EQTVMekF6THpNeEwyUnZkMjVzYjJGa056YzVPVE13TmpZMk9TNTZhWEE5UFQxU1ZEY3hWMTlHYVhKdGQyRnlaVjlXTVM0NEM%3D extract the rt73.bin and put it in /lib/firmware. Then reboot.

The link led me to where I can see only parts of puppy files not an iso.

What do I do from there?

And have you ever tried scim on the puplet? Especially Korean scim

Please educate me and save a poor soul from the darkness.

FWIW I think your approach not to just go ahead and do the "obvious" and make an iso, but instead provide the "parts" to ease installing into an eee is completely correct. Just as it is for Puppeee.

BrowserLinux is great for the EEE 701. But it's even better with the Fluppy window manager pack.

Combining Meerkat and Flwm gives a very usable experience on the tiny screen.

Great!! I downloaded it on an XP machine and used Unetbootin to create a usb stick. Got on-line using wifi in no time flat. I'm running it on an Acer AA1.

Oops- I found the bookmarks menu. It's a little down arrow at the right hand side.

Aha! me again. I found the BrowserLinux website. It's a remarkably single-minded distro! No package manager. It does what it says on the tin, and nothing more. Just what you need for a netbook.

The package manager is actually still there, it's just not on the menu. Typing 'dotpup' on the command line will bring it up.
