Woof Bugs

#1 Post by playdayz »

The following files are mislocated in Packages-puppy-woof-official because their address is given as pet-packages-4, when it should be pet-packages-woof
jwmconfig2-20091009|jwmconfig2|20091009||Desktop|264K|pet_packages-woof|jwmconfig2-20091009.pet|+jwm2,+gtkdialog3|JWM configuration|||official|

net_setup-20091108|net_setup|20091108||Setup|324K|pet_packages-woof|net_setup-20091108.pet|+gtkdialog3|Network Wizard|||official|

net_setup_retro-20091108|net_setup_retro|20091108||Setup|200K|pet_packages-woof|net_setup_retro-20091108.pet|+gtkdialog3|Network Wizard|||official|

you2pup-1.3-2|you2pup|1.3-2||Internet|64K|pet_packages-woof|you2pup-1.3-2.pet|+gtkdialog3|You2pup YouTube downloader|||official|
One can open "Packages-puppy-woof-official" and correct and save.

This package below is now in pet-packages-4.
The package below is also listed in "Packages-puppy-woof-official" but I cannot find it anywhere. It seems to be OK to ignore the messages about it being missing, that is, Woof still builds a Puplet that starts and runs.

Code: Select all

linux_firmware_dvb-1.20|linux_firmware_dvb|1.20||BuildingBlock|48K|pet_packages-4|linux_firmware_dvb-1.20.pet||dvb usb kernel firmware|||official|
The following kernel is also listed in "Packages-puppy-woof-official" but does not exist there (yet, Barry says).

Code: Select all

linux_kernel-2.6.31.5-tickless_smp_initrd-p4|linux_kernel|2.6.31.5-tickless_smp_initrd-p4||BuildingBlock|90008K|pet_packages-woof|linux_kernel-2.6.31.5-tickless_smp_initrd-p4.pet||linux kernel|puppy|4|official|

Fleas and Ticks

When Woof goes to build the devx for uPup it reports that It cannot stat python-libxml2_DEV. I cannot find that in Ubuntu Packages, and the python-libxml2 without the DEV seems to be installed. So I am not sure what this means or what to do about it.

I added the deb packages of Add libreadline6, libreadline_dev, libreadline_common, and libnl1, to help with wireless. A couple of people had reported error messages that one or the other was missing.

The Ubuntu mktemp deb package only contains the Doc files.!? I have replaced that with mktemp_1.5.pet. A couple of people have reported that even with devx installed uPup will not compile because mktemp is missing. Also an error was reported of alsaconf missing mktemp somehow. SitHeel Speak packaged a gcc 4.4.1 with mktemp and it does compile nicely.

(Weirdness. When I used Woof gui to add the mktemp pet package and then went to Build the mktemp package, an error was reported in line 1 syntax of PKGS_SPECS_TABLE. I appears that the # had been removed from the beginning. I put it back and everything proceeded normally.)

Trying to build upup with woof. Everything seems to complete, although I have the same errors that are posted above. However, sandbox3 is missing the iso.

Some Woof issues?

#8 Post by peebee »

I have 2 "issues" running modern Puppies on my old Thinkpad 600 laptop both of which I think are Woof related:

1. my PCMCIA wifi card is not detected at all - no sign of it if I do "pccardctl info" - it's a Netgear MA401RA 000B,7300 and was last detected OK in Pup 4.3.1 (applies to all latest Wary, Quirky and Luci)

2. a huge 200MB puppy swap file is created whether you want one or not which makes the bootup time take forever - it can be subsequently deleted again but it would be nice to be asked if you want one in the first place. (applies to Wary051 and Luci217)

Thanks
Peter

Thanks

I have found that by loading the version of pcmciautils from the ubuntu repository - http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/pcmciautils - onto Puppy 5.1.1 and then calling pcmcia-socket-startup in a Startup script then the pcmcia socket starts to work and detects the Netgear card and a wifi connection can be established.

Cheers
Peter
