Macpup is so fast, even my kindergarten-age daughter has noticed. When I said something tonight about how fast she brushed her teeth, she said "Yeah, just like Macpup!" So Macpup isn't helping much with children's hygiene practices, but it sure is making a huge difference on my old Dell Latitude C400 laptop :)

I love to gold theme and thanks for the battery tip.

BTW, I found many of the adjustments for Fileman and i actually like using it. I have noticed however that it uses a lot of CPU when I'm changing icons and such.

I know it's under construction so this isn't a complaint but a heads up.

audio stuttering on aspire one

#167 Post by seasidesoulish »

Hi guys

just popped back to let you know the audio problem I was having on the macpup foxy HD install seems resolved.

I added pci=noacpi to my syslinux.cfg file and everything seems ok.

I had previously installed the latest alsa files as supplied by patriot without any change.

Hope this info helps someone else..

I added this to the aspire one forum too.

I'm so happy macpup is working so well without having to have a USB stick sticking out the side of my one!

All I need now is to find out why skype doesn't start.

:D

never worked at all.

I installed it with package manager & the icon is in the internet menu but there are missing library files....

libmysqlclient.so.15 libGLU.so.1

libGLU.so.1

libqt-mt.so.3

when I try to run skype I get the following message...

"enlightenment was unable to run the application
skype
the application failed to start"

any suggestions?

thanks

Try using the skype_static 2.1.0.47.pet from the puppylinux.ca site, its under bugs. I have used it several times without issue . I know it works :

I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere but....

I'm using the 'cerium' theme at the mo & when I hover the mouse over the clock I see the date show on the clock face which I really like...
Is it easy to set other themes to do this too?

I'll take it apart later and see . If it's an old style theme I can pull the clock.edc out of it and put it into another old style theme. If it's a new style I will need to hunt through the main.edc to find the code.

is where I got it... I think

Is it something a linux newbie like me could attempt do you think?

I like tinkering but my programming skills consist of cutting & pasting code other people have created &/or applying barely intelligent guesswork to config files etc.

I don't suppose I could help but given I'm skint & can't donate any cash until one of my songs sells more than no copies, it's all I can offer.

It depends on the theme you want to modify, And what you want to do. Just moving the clock from the cerium to a different theme would not be very hard . Getting the clock in another theme to act like that would be a bit more work but not hard.

How to do themes , Fox 3 already has everything need to do themes ,you dont need to add anything:

that's great...

so I can just use the commands as described in your post to take apart & put back together?

I'll have a go in a bit...

I noticed in the screen shots in that post there is a calendar module on the right of the screen. Is that an option in foxy 3?
Where would I find it if so?

thanks :)
