Can't get any decent video modes
Hi! I just installed Puppy Linux for Windows 98 (version 1.07) on my old machine (Pentium II 400 MHz, 64MB RAM, SiS 6236 4MB video card, 10GB hard drive). It installed flawlessly, save for one very annoying feature: it does not recognize any video mode beyond 640x480x8. This is a video card that can run at 1024x768x65k on Windows 98. Any ideas how I can get it to work under PuppyLinux?

Exit X (hit CTRL-ALT-backspace)
type:
mp /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Replace
driver "???"
with
driver "sis"
or
driver "vesa"
then type "xwin"
??? stands for what is currently entered there.
If X does not start, enter the old value again, and zip /var/log/Xorg.0.log,and attach it to a message here.
run
cd /root
zip -9 log.zip /var/log/Xorg.0.log
