Where go the Gimp?

#1 Post by milesteg »

I just used the Pet installer to load the GImp for 4.3.0. It says installed, but I can't find it.

Any help where to look?

I have been poking in directories for a while and thought I now need help.

:D Hello,
To test / run it: in a terminal ( ie. rxvt), type ( without the quotes) "gimp" and hit enter...
To find it: in a terminal, type "which gimp" and hit enter...
To see a list of all installed parts of a user installed package, where they were installed, ect..Look in /root/.packages. Thats (dot)packages, a hidden directory...There will be a file for each user installed package, listing where it is installed...
Close the Windows, and open your eyes, to a whole new world

you might have to open a terminal and type fixmenus
then click menu/shutdown/Restart JWM
then look under menu/graphics

Thank you! It is in fact there.

any advice on how to add it to the menu selection? I would like to add it to the graphics category.

install this pet then open a terminal and type fixmenus
then restart JWM and you should have it in graphics

Hello milesteg

You never mentioned what Gimp package you installed,
but as you said:
milesteg wrote:I just used the Pet installer to load the GImp for 4.3.0.
i will assume that it was gimp-2.4.0-rc3.pet
if that is correct, then if you do as ttuuxxx advised you to do,
it will show up in the menu in the Graphic category. (see image below)

.

EDIT:
@ ttuuxxx
If he did use the gimp-2.4.0-rc3.pet package,
then he should not need to do anything other than what you already informed him to do.

P.S
I prefer your "Extreme Version"
