I have posted else where on the forum about fonts so i thought a small post here might help some people.
It does not seem to be widely known that the window manager font being used also affects the font in browsers and all other programs, so my first change to fonts is in Desktop/JWM Configuration Manager/Desktop/GTK Theme/Font. Changing this to suit makes the programs a pleasure to use.
Remember to untick the box that allows web sites to use their own fonts in your browser preferences if you want to use your own choice.

Hi ttuuxxx,

If you didn´t notice before a made some test for RC5: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... start=3419

As I reported there, I had problems with lameSMBxplorer so I followed your advice and installed latest version (lameSMBxploer-0.2.1b), now I can see my shares and open them (also using a DOMAIN ID in my office), anyway it´s slower than Pnethood, but I think it´ll be OK to keep both apps.

P.S: There´s a new Hiawatha version that fix some small bugs, I´ll compile it tonight and upload a new package.

You may have missed what I wrote yesterday similarly.
I installed the lameSMBxploer-0.2.1b and somehow got to see my samba shares.
So it looks like the new version works but I have to say that I much prefer the seemingly ease of use of Pnethood. Perhaps put both in but pls pls don't chuck Pnethood which just works despite HairyWill no longer being so active here.
Dave
So I fully agree.

Here's a Xarchiver and 7Zip package, 7Zip also unzips many other formats hence the size, when you install it, Xarchiver and File-Roller both will be able to 7zip apps.

Here's a cd burner the reason why its so large is that it uses cdrdao as the backend, which is about 1.5mb extracted. The program is small and uses the zenity library which is small also, funny that puppy doesn't use zenity when its only like 30kb compressed, anyways here's a all-in-one package.

ttuuxxx, nice applications and updtes.

I´ll add my two cents:

I updated the hiawatha package with latest version 7.1, I compiled it for i386 architecture using Puppy 2.16, so it could work in other Puppies. I tested it in 2.16, Dpup and 214X.

It contains ttuuxxx GUI wrapper, /etc/rc.d/init.d/hiawatha.run service script, fixed configuration file, etc.

Although it can be used for other pups, I must warn full installation users to backup first the shadow, groups and passwd files in /etc, if you uninstall this package you could lost these files and should be unable to login. That´s not a problem in frugal installations.

Greetings,
clarf

Hello Tuuxxx, I agree that Zenity should be in Puppy. I've used it in TEENpup for at least 2 releases. I also use Kdialog as well.
Legacy OS 2017 has been released.

Which Zenity apps did you use in TEENpup ?
I always like the name :)

anyone want to play around with a small wysiwyg editor?
Just download it and extract and click on the webpage a few of the buttons aren't working right, like save and paste, If anyone can figure it out, it would make a nice addition to 2.14x

Life's really busy right now, so I won't have time to test printing in RC5 until later this week :(.
Will report back when tested :)/

Name

#3458 Post by Minnesota »

With all the changes and UPDATES...and ADDITIONS to this version of 214, ttuuxxx why not give it a new fancy name...and possibly it's own logo. Something that reflects it roots but at the same time reflects innovations!

Personally I would like to see the version number as part of the desktop.. but we have had those discussions in the past. How about a name such as Puppy Enhanced Two.... PET...I know name used.. but you get the idea. Or ?

Seems kinda desolate here...

I was working in a way to add Bootsplash to 214X, I could add it :D , but I´m short of Puppy backgrounds.

What do you think?. Do you like this feature for 214x?

If you have one image better please tell me, it´must be 640x480 and 16 colors depth (4bpp) in any format.

Greetings,
clarf

Nice clarf :) I like it a lot, can it stay durring the whole bootup process as a background, or is it just going to be a 5 second flash like the regular puppy ? As images go, we can go with that one for now, its pretty good but I'll see a bit later if I can get the desktop background looking good, hmmm probably could do that now :)
