Official 4.3.2

V3 http://puppylinux.ca/tpp/ttuuxxx/4.2/V3.iso
md5 71aea85e9fd805b7e6d02ea3baa3d0df
Reload browsers your screen a few (7-8) times if you get the current download limit exceeded. It'll still work.

Well Barry mentioned I could release a 4.3.2 bug fix release and doing so will buy some time for 5 series to be released in about 5 weeks, At this point in time that is what I'm prepared to do and have started. I'll spend maybe 1-2 days on this and I won't be taking over 4 series right now but I'll build a 4.3.2 bug release based on 4.3.1.
Basically I'll do like what I did with 2.14X manually edit the iso and rebuild the image. The reason why I'm not using woof is because, woof takes hundreds of packages, and from my past experiences with it its great if your going to continue support, and build numerous bug fix releases. Its basically something you can build on, But the way I've been doing things in 2.14X Its just way more simpler,quicker etc to do it my way. Woof is great if you don't have a base to start with, where as with 4.3.1 I have a great tried and true base to work with.

So far this is what I've done in the past 24hrs
-Seamonkey <--- I download SM2 sources to compile it, It wouldn't compile right at all, what a pain I spent maybe 5 hrs on it, Then said $#$## I'm using the default one, So with the default one I had to add an updated sqlite and dbus, ok I can live with that.
I hated the default theme, and the "modern" theme, so I tossed them both out and added the mostly crystal theme which looks great, Seamonkey is getting sneaky with there settings, the 2 series is made so that every time you install install it, it displays the seamonkey homepage, They actually removed a java script file that would let me change that. So I added it back, lol Now I have it set to google. Same with the browser GUI settings I had to hack that a little to keep the home and flash on/off buttons.
Oh ya addons are flash block, close button on each tab any addon can be removed via the menu. I'm not adding any more, I want to keep the size to a min, Talking about size this release will be around 3-4MB larger due to using a full Seamonkey release from mozilla, I did remove around 2.5mb uncompressed from it but that's about the most. The directory is 38MB expanded and was over 40MB to start with.
-I've upgrade rox and rox mime images, since I read there was some issue with the current one, I just used the one in quirky, it works great.
I update a few icons, without going too nuts with it.
-updated blinky to a better one I made before.
Now I'm going to look at the 4.3.1 bug section and try to sort that out.
If you have any fixes that aren't list in the 4.3.1 bug section please list them here.
At this point I'm only updating the "P" software and fixing bugs.
I did read that abiword had some issues so I'll look fixing/compiling that also.
Please don't ask to add software etc, this is a bug fix release. well new "P" software is okay.

I have a lot of upgrades and fixes put together already if you need them. I agree with you on the woof build, it does waste a lot of time if you already have a good base.
Check out my github repositories. I may eventually get around to updating my blogspot.

Hi technosaurus, What I really need is fixes, or updates that are smaller, I just a built a iso with what I've done to this point and it only grew by 3MB with SM2,newer rox, Dbus, Dbus-glib, newer sqlite, updated blinky, flash block and a few icons.
Now I just want to focus on bugs/smaller apps. If you have any feel free to submit them.

I seem to remember installing a Seamonkey 2.0 pet that would tell me there were no updates available when I would click on Help and then Check for Updates.
Will the version you are using be able to update iself to the latest version?

Also, did you check to see if the seamonkey version interferes with PuppyBrowser?

Yes 108MB, 4.3.1 was 105MB so the extra is described above, plus a printer fix above, and no this is going to be a quick update. :)

Which add-on puts the close button on each tab Ttuuxxx? The CUPS problem is in Cups-shell. Comment out the bare bones stuff like thi and it works:

Code: Select all

USEBROWSER="defaultbrowser"
#[ -f /usr/bin/netsurf-barewindow ] && USEBROWSER="netsurf-barewindow"
#[ -f /usr/local/bin/bareview ] && USEBROWSER="bareview" #from gtkmoz pkg.
#[ -f /usr/local/bin/cupsview ] && USEBROWSER="cupsview" #w471 from gtkmoz pkg.

Yes gtkembedmoz is no longer supported in FF3 or Seamonkey 2 so anything related to it has to be fixed, like cups already is for the next release :)

Did a huge amount of work trying to get PuppyBrowser to work with Seamonkey 2. See here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 254#406254

Managed it, but it seems to use so much SM1* stuff that is not compatible with *2 that I ended up with 20MB uncompressed!

Is it possible to reduce the height(depth) of the tabs themselves? They take up more screen space than they need to, especially on smaller screens. I have tried to figure it out but failed. If it is just a line in userchrome, could be a simple thing to do....................

I have been using a theme called Brushed-Mikey with the background slightly darkened. Its nice because it give a serious look to Puppy. All business............
SM2 picks up the theme and uses it, which is nice :)

have you tried it with this version of 4.3 with the updated rox and plus I have the trash icon on the bottom rt corner of the screen as a placement that should help also.
All the apps listed show up fine when opened on a square 19" LCD

When I get some free time after I'm done this release I'll have a look, But The theme I'm using already has tiny tabs to start with, much smaller than the theme you posted. actually if you removed the bookmarks and name under icons it would be really ideal for small screens

Regarding V1.
The first time I used the new seamonkey, It crashed my network card (broadcom). I don't know why, as it also caused my computer to freeze, then reboot. Since then it has worked fine though (3x), so it may have been a fluke.

Seamonkey imports the settings from SM1 the first time. It may confuse the new people, but doesn't hurt functionality.

The flash screen for GRUB says puppy 4.31.

I'm glad to see you on Puppy 4.32. 8)
