Hi ttuuxxx
Thanks for this -
as a regular n00bie user it's nice to know that all the little
(and maybe not so little) gremlins are being fixed.

The only obvious little something missing is - no woof woof.
Presume this is because no puppybrowser starts?
Thats ok.

Like SM2 - all seems to work as normal.

Got to work now - so catch up later.

Very best regards - Ray

I imagine these are on your to do list, but I'm mentioning them just to be thorough.

The SFS file is called 431.
The folder the frugal install defaults to is called 431.
The title on install is "Puppy Linux 4.31 Frugal".

As for the network card crashing, it happened again. This time it was not associated with seamonkey (I hadn't started it). No errors, the card just stopped seeing any networks. This was on a second computer, with a different card (RaLink RT2561/RT61 PCI). Works fine after reboot.

I don't know what else to check for the network card. If you thinks it's important just let me know what you need done.

Since you're not building from Woof, you may want to comb Barry's blog and grab some of his bug fixes. For instance, the init script has a least a couple important bugfixes that I know of. Also the pup_frontend_event_d script has some nice improvements, maybe that new installer with usb bootsplash.... that sort of thing.

I haven't had a look yet but will Seamonkey
render this site better.

http://www.stgeorge.com.au/

Top RH corner login near Corporate and a little
green block is the login...something to do with fonts right.

The last couple of Puppies...logging in is a pain.

hi Chris I did a site validations at w3schools and it had 92 errors on the first page!
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stgeorge.com.au%2F
also have you mentioned this to seamonkey development crew? If it worked fine under SM1 then it should be the same for SM2, Westpac works fine https://online.westpac.com.au/esis/Login/SrvPage/?h3&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.westpac.com.au%2F

You already discovered that previous versions of Puppy were built with the 1.xx versions of Seamonkey because so much relied on it.
When I installed the 2.01 version, I found that the desktop MAIL icon failed to work also.
I think the upgrading of Seamonkey was never done because no one was willing to trace down all the other programs dependencies on it and fix them.
It is a monumental effort so good luck!

I discovered that V1 wouldn't power off when I tried to shut down. (I had been rebooting before that). V2 has the same problem. Puppy shuts down, but just doesn't kill the power. When I saw it, I remembered that that was the reason I didn't go with 4.31 in the first place. ( Embarassed Sorry, I'm a bit absent minded sometimes).

When I tried to install V2, the universal installer was unable to see the files on the CD. I tried mounting the CD drive before installing, but that had no effect this time. This was not an issue with V1.

Hey ttuuxxx,

Could you add Altavista as another search engine option?
