maybe Gaim just lies to you about beingthe only one on?
and I got impatient about nobody answer my resounding "Hi"?
will try again, although the broweser based one works fine.
Is there a way to make Gaim beep when a new message is posted to bring that fact up to my attention.

Configuring sound in Gaim
Something happened in the last day or so. First, the Gaim configuration on my computer was zeroed, then, when I redid it, I'm suddenly the only one in the #puppylinux chat room and I'm the moderator!papaschtroumpf wrote:maybe Gaim just lies to you about beingthe only one on?

Buddy List->Tools->Preferences->Sounds. Sound method is "command" and sound command is "wavplay." Check the box, "Others talk in Chat."Is there a way to make Gaim beep when a new message is posted to bring that fact up to my attention.
I stumbled across where Gaim keeps its sound files, in /usr/local/share/sounds/Gaim
