GigapupVbox

#1 Post by doctorgig »

This is a (lightly) re-themed Lighthouse pup with a couple of additions

1) Added Suns Vbox, this allows you to run make virtual machine and even make a transportable copy of windows on a flash drive.
2)Added the drivers for the Azus EEE including fan control and overclocking
3)changed the theme
4)added Pwidgets

for release notes, screen shots and downloads

I just wanted to let you know that I downloaded, installed, and have used gigapup and very much appreciate having the ability to use vbox in puppy. I have never succeeded in getting it working right when I try to install it. I think it is an excellent addition to LHP.

thanks

:D Hello,
Vbox and Puppy are a great combination..I have used them together for over a year, and love it..I have a pup (undercoverpup) grubbed as Windoze, which autolaunches Vbox headless and boots straight into a WinXP desktop,
Works very well, and my kids dont know they are on Puppy..
When I get a big enough usb stick I will put the vdi / my Puppy on it and have a portable XP..
So far I cant get Vbox to install XP on a vdrive smaller than 1gb..
Remember to install the XP "guest additions" for complete cross compatability and access..
Good luck and good project... Good choice of puplets as well, I really like tazoc`s Lighthouse series a lot..(except the KDE thing...LOL...I detest KDE..)
I will D/L and test ASAP... :D
Close the Windows, and open your eyes, to a whole new world

Popup says Mariner is lhp443g but should be f

#6 Post by Pete22 »

I need firefox and vbox too. I thought this Puppy was based on LHp443g. I am using this puppy for a person who is a non geek and new to linux. I don't want these error messages about wrong versions popping up.

Can I use the regular upgrade from F to G2 lhp to upgrade this puppy?

There is a new vbox, can I just download the update or do I have to do something else to upgrade it?

Also when shutting down this puppy, it does not do it the first time, but it just hides the toolbar instead. I have to right click on the desktop, go to logout and click on power off or reboot to get any action.

These issues may be easy to fix, I just don't know how.

Please help.

The answers for all your questions are YES
The standard upgrade path for lighthouse works fine, OR use the SFSs files from the last version (Version F) and all will be compatible
