Openbox Window Manager

#4 Post by bigpup »

Openbox Window Manager

Openbox is a highly configurable, next generation window manager with extensive standards support.

The *box visual style is well known for its minimalistic appearance. Openbox uses the *box visual style, while providing a greater number of options for theme developers than previous *box implementations. The theme documentation describes the full range of options found in Openbox themes.

Openbox lets you bring the latest applications outside of a full desktop environment. Most modern applications have been written with GNOME and KDE in mind. With support for the latest freedesktop.org standards, as well as careful adherence to previous standards, Openbox provides an environment where applications work the way they were designed to.

Openbox is a highly configurable window manager. It allows you to change almost every aspect of how you interact with your desktop and invent completely new ways to use and control it. It can be like a video game for controlling windows. But Openbox can also be kept extremely simple, as it is in the default setup, meaning that it can suit just about anybody. Openbox gives you control without making you do everything.

RoxRightClicks

#7 Post by abushcrafter »

RoxRightClicks

Description:
This package adds loads of extra options for file actions in rox when you right-click on a file. The actions are only enabled for filetypes that it would be sensible to use them on. (no option to open an mp3 in mtpaint etc.)
The options use icons symlinked to the desktop theme, so if you change the theme the icons will update automatically.

Startmount

#8 Post by bigpup »

Startmount

An application to read your drives available for mounting and to let you choose which one(s) or all, to automount at next boot.
It can also auto-run a chosen program(s)

So, boot, it will mount drive and launch a program, if chosen.

Handy to start music, launch a browser or whatever your choice from menu of default apps.

Acpitool: commandline ACPI status program for laptops

#18 Post by bigpup »

Acpitool

commandline ACPI status program for laptops.
Small command-line application, intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary target audience are laptop users, since these people are most interested in stuff like battery status, thermal status and the ability to put their precious laptop to sleep. Most of this does not apply to desktop systems.
Besides "basic" ACPI information like battery status, AC presence, etc . . . , Acpitool also supports various extensions for Toshiba, Asus and IBM Thinkpad laptops, allowing you to change the LCD brightness level, toggle fan on/off, and more.
