Puppy can't find my IP adress and cannot connect!

#1 Post by MindFusion »

Hi everyone, I just installed Puppy Linux on my old Acer Aspire laptop (512 mib ram, 16 mib graphic card, amd sempron processor, 37 gig storage) and I must say: puppy runs lightning fast! I have never ever had an Operating System that runs this fast, I thought Ubuntu was pretty fast but this is just insane...

Anyways, I have a wireless modem (Belgacom Bbox2) about 5 feet away from my laptop, but my laptop cannot connect to it.
This is what I do to connect:

Menu >
Connect >
Pwireless wireless scanner >
[my connection at home gets listed, cell 01 essid mindfusion-network, ch 1, quality 65\70, signal\noise -45\?, encryp WEP, MAC adress -which i wont display here obviously] >
i press connect >
i typ in the WEP key >
running dhcpcd to try and obtain an IP adress >
then it lists my IP adress >
I press ok and i return to the menu>
I try to browse the internet but it says page not found

and then what do i do??

Maybe try checking that the file /etc/resolv.conf isn't a broken link or something funny.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here
