PostPosted: Fri 30 Apr 2010, 05:25    Post subject:  [PET] SMplayer 0.6.9
Subject description: A advanced Mplayer GUI.

App Website: http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/
Description from app website:
Quote:
SMPlayer intends to be a complete front-end for MPlayer, from basic features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like support for MPlayer filters and more.

One of the most interesting features of SMPlayer: it remembers the settings of all files you play. So you start to watch a movie but you have to leave... don't worry, when you open that movie again it will resume at the same point you left it, and with the same settings: audio track, subtitles, volume...

Other additional interesting features:

* Configurable subtitles. You can choose font and size, and even colors for the subtitles.
* Audio track switching. You can choose the audio track you want to listen. Works with avi and mkv. And of course with DVDs.
* Seeking by mouse wheel. You can use your mouse wheel to go forward or backward in the video.
* Video equalizer, allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma of the video image.
* Multiple speed playback. You can play at 2X, 4X... and even in slow motion.
* Filters. Several filters are available: deinterlace, postprocessing, denoise... and even a karaoke filter (voice removal).
* Audio and subtitles delay adjustment. Allows you to sync audio and subtitles.
* Advanced options, such as selecting a demuxer or video & audio codecs.
* Playlist. Allows you to enqueue several files to be played one after each other. Autorepeat and shuffle supported too.
* Preferences dialog. You can easily configure every option of SMPlayer by using a nice preferences dialog.
* Possibility to search automatically for subtitles in opensubtitles.org.
* Translations: currently SMPlayer is translated into more than 20 languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese....
* It's multiplatform. Binaries available for Windows and Linux.
* SMPlayer is under the GPL license.

Compiled on Stardust013 which is based on Puppy 431 so it should work on Puppy 431 and other puplets based on 431. No other translations other than English are included as they didn't compile and I don't know why and don't have time to find out, sorry.

For more info and the translations PET see musher0's post.

I had these QT pets installed when I did the compiling:
  • qt4-4.3.2.pet
  • qt-4.5.3-p4.pet

You should only need one of those QT pets but I don't know which one so you will have to find out for the moment.

You will also need a copy of Mplayer.

This version of Mplayer has the advance options of which SMplayer supports but it can't play Theora video probably because it was not compiled with Theora support enabled I think:
Mplayer with Multi-core support (09/2009) + gnome frontend

[Update 19/9/2010] This is the one I recommend. It is a recent build and so can play WebM. It has no multi-core support:
Mplayer SVN pet

This is a older version of mplayer which can play Theora video probably because it was enabled when it was compiled! It does not make full use of the support for advanced mplayer options which SMplayer has:
MPlayer-1.0rc2 + mencoder Feb 2008

[Update: Thu23/9/2010]Themes:

Will try to add more mirrors.

Good show, abushcrafter!

I constituted independently a package from http://packages.atrpms.net/dist/el5/smplayer/smplayer-0.6.9-4.el5.i386.rpm.html, but you beat me to it!

So, I'd simply like to complete your package with the translations (see attachement) that are in the above rpm.

As well, some additional info:
* the complete themes are here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplayer/files/SMPlayer-themes/0.1.20/smplayer-themes_0.1.20_all.deb/download

* we already have pets for Qt 4.5.3 at http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Qt. The "lite" packages should be more than enough.

* Finally, this smplayer also works on wary 0.7.

Again, many thanks, abushcrafter! May every Puppy-ist enjoy this superb mplayer front-end!

Thanks very much. I made a themes PET from the DEB you linked to. I also added a link to your post.

I tried to recompile SMplayer on my current 4.3.2 V based A Powerful Puppy 0.4.2 but I get this error:
Code:
# make PREFIX=/usr CFLAGS="-mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
./get_svn_revision.sh
cd src && qmake  && DATA_PATH=\\\"/usr/share/smplayer\\\" TRANSLATION_PATH=\\\"/usr/share/smplayer/translations\\\" DOC_PATH=\\\"/usr/share/doc/packages/smplayer\\\" THEMES_PATH=\\\"/usr/share/smplayer/themes\\\" SHORTCUTS_PATH=\\\"/usr/share/smplayer/shortcuts\\\" make
QMAKESPEC has not been set, so configuration cannot be deduced.
Error processing project file: /mnt/sda6/Linux/Apps/Source/Smplayer/smplayer-0.6.9/src/smplayer.pro
make: *** [src/smplayer] Error 3
#

The reason I was recompiling SMplayer was because I did not use these options "CFLAGS="-mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"" as recommended in the Wiki PuppyLinux: Setting up Puppy for compiling in the first and current SMplayer 0.6.9 PET.

Hello again!

Thanks for uploading the themes to your download site. I'm sure people will appreciate it.

As to your compiling woes... I am not that good at compiling BIG programs...

I noticed that your compiler ticks when it gets at the foldes for the themes and languages. As for me, I simply created a separate pet file for the translations, by following the "dir2pet method". That is, I created a general smplayer folder on an ext3 drive. Then I went inside and created /the usr /share /smplayer and /translations folders. Then you type "dir2pet " and follow the instructions.

TTYL.
