Does Puppy have a media player for MPEG-4 videos?

#1 Post by evil »

Hi all,

I want to view downloaded videos on puppy.
I want in-effect a media player like Quick-time etc so that it is integrated with the internet explorer-Mozilla after the video is downloaded.

What's available and the best option? I NEED IT TO PLAY MPEG-4.
I think Gxine is a puppy multimedia plugin. Does Gxine play MPEG-4??

Many thanks in advance...

gxine does play mpeg-4.

I am not sure if you need to install the gxine plugins (install as a pupget) as I always install them.

As I explained in an earlier post http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=3851 Puppy's Gxine already has the plugin to handle MPEG4 video, but not MPEG4 audio. This plugin (xineplug_decode_faad.so) cannot just be added because the main application (xine-lib) will not be aware of it.

The solution is to get my Xine 1.1.1+XvMC package. See here http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=5701
