I have instaled puppy 1.08 to HD; found the puppy 2 .iso, burnt it, and can run it from cd, so i have the best-of-both ... (!!)

Barry's description of puppy filesystems is fascinatingly over-my-head, my newbie query is: should i expect to be able to somehow run version 2 from cd, and have access to all the application from 1.08 without re-installing them in version 2 ?

Secondly, i still have an unused partition on my HD, about 3.6 gig - what is the standard envirionment to guarantee maximum compatibility? i am currently downloading the vector livecd with the goal of installing it, since it has been the basis for developing puppy - is it still?

I have trashed my systems so many times as a direct result of multi-booting with Windows that it seems the time is right to try my luck with a completely linux system. i had successfully nstalled the latest Yoper on this computer, but i prefer puppy because sound works, and it could be a while before i could ever get sound working in yoper (although the eye-candy is nice once in a while!)
