How do I change the boot picture?
The splash-image has a number of files in it but I don't know how they're used.

There was a thread or at least a post in the forum, within the last month, that I'm pretty sure answers all your questions. I searched the forum for "boot screen" splash screen" and "bootsplash" and I can't find it, but I remember it clearly.

It was after Puppy 1.0.2, and JohnM's Puppy, came out.

The splash image is called "goofy.16" and you will find it on the live-CD.
Probably if you do a search on "goofy" you will find the right threads.

anyone has a precompiled version of ppmtolss16 handy?

I've been playing with creating my own splash screens (I have been modifying using images I found on the Internet to test with, but releases of puppy need to use images that are free of copyrights).
