Eagle Electronic CAD |
|
As a tip
http://www.cadsoft.de/
A realy good working electronic design program
It is also a very good example of a program under linux that installs correctly under almost any distro.
I wish this goeld be said for every program

Please describe the features you use in Eagle CAD.
Please describe how you got it installed in your system.

I don't use eagle so I figured I would give the (perhaps unhelpful) advice of looking at Kicad or ExpressPCBClassic.
I am in the middle of migrating from 528 to Puppy-Precise so my system is in too much chaos for me to advise how to get Kicad working.
ExpressPCBClassic runs under wine quite nicely.
It is a bit of a trap because it forces you to use them to fab the boards.
They are only a little high on the per board cost.
The tool is limited but good enough for many boards.
They are really only useful to people in the US

Thanks for the response.
Very complete response.
We have been using PartSIm for 7 years.
Has been very useful in developing dozens of different projects.
No Export of files.
No Import of files.
All of our work is prototyped and single unit soldered.
Our website shows the extensive developments we have done.

I will also add in here that up until the latest version, LTSpice worked great under wine on my system. The newest version crashes. I expect they will fix that as soon as COVID-19 is gone.
Very good features of LTSpice:
You can make a sub-circuit have a symbol that makes clear what it does. This is better than the ability of many other CAD systems where you are at best able only to make a block on the page.
The finding of the operating point tries very hard before it gives up. It does the thing of hooking GMIN between all the point in the circuit then slowly removing it. It tries setting all the supply voltages to zero then slowly raising them. It does a pseudo-transient response where it tries to model as though you asked to the transient response without finding the operating point and then go into what you asked for. Only if all that fails does in stop.
Linear/Analog built in vast numbers of parts predefined with models. These include many they don't make but you may need. Yes, they provide in hope that you will be more likely to use their parts but they don't force the issue. They rely on the greatness of the parts speaking for its self.
The system is unlimited and can handle some truly vast projects.
The .measure lets you do calculations on the results after each run.
It will export a net list and a bunch of stuff like that.
You can format graphs to look good and even add notes to them.

I don't work for them. This is my honest opinion.

Moose,
Thanks for the review.
Barrie Gilbert did some vital coaching on my schematic ( above )
just a few years ago. We conferred for about ten years.
He is passed now, but his influence on my thinking
is still greatly appreciated. RIP.
From the above schematic of the Phase-Filtered Audio Processor
we have attached the Bode and Magnitude plots .
Bode is typical but the Magnitude of the dual-notches is special !
Interesting if you are into that sort of esoteric filtering.
I have worked Morse Code for 62 years, and this circuit is useful.
So ... ADI has bought Linear now.
Hope it works out good.
Hope your work at Analog brings you fulfillment and respect !
My life-long skills are like the vast universe :
Always was Analog,
Am Analog today,
Will always be Analog !
I am Just an old Apprentice,
caught tinkering in the Master's Workshop,
