Thanks sidders for updating
I have an old box just right for this (431 runs very well on it) and my grand kids will love it!
Cheers

Yay! This is really welcome news sidders - thanks a-plenty!
Can somebody please mirror this puplet in one of the community repositories? I think that HSB (as did ol' EduPup) has an important role in spreading and confirming the word on the value for recycling "obsolete" computers for educational settings (see here for the appalling Australian situation: Landfills 'busting at seams' with e-waste - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/05/2919217.htm).
I'm downloading as I write - I'd love to try out OOo4Kids v0.9 en-us (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=54063 and http://wiki.ooo4kids.org/index.php/Main_Page) on it - does anybody already have experience using that 89 mb OpenOffice spin-off suite?
sidders - a newbie question - will the 412 SFS's you compiled for DosBox (Fatty's Birthday Surprise, AJ's Learning World from memory), KDEtoys etc. be compatibleish with your new HSB?
Congratulations and Thanks for your latest creation,
Puppyt
PuppyLinux - it's free as in reef
(beer costs brain cells, not as environmentally-PC)

Etoys and Childsplay posted
Having trouble with ktuberling on the kde sfs, it wont allow an executable in /usr/games.
Going to create a new Cups and Wine sfs for 431.

HanSamben Subject description: Problem running with Virtual box (SOLVED) |
|
Hi Sidders, excellent work with your latest HanSamBen
Currently running successfully as a live CD
Two questions
a) The splash screen says 421 not 431 or did I download the wrong version?
b) When trying to use in Virtualbox 3.2.4 loading stalls see attached jpeg
this is the first puppylinux I have not been able to use with Virtualbox by selecting xversa
So rolled back Virtualbox to version 2.1.4 but still no joy, other puppys load ok 4.3.1 and U476 etc but not the one my grandaughter loves HanSamBen
Anyone else having problems with HanSamBen 431 and Virtualbox?
Thanks again for a great puppy
XPSP2 host system
Update 10 July, after downloading the latest Virtualbox 3.2.6 and still no joy I decided to try specifying linux kernel 2.4 instead of 2.6 in the virtualbox settings
For whatever the reason this fixed the problem and I am typing this edit from HanSamben 431 in Virtualbox
Hope this helps others with Virtualbox and Puppylinux

Hi Pete.
The splash screen is an oversight. I will put it on the list, i needs to be changed.
I havnt tried them with virtualbox. I need to have a look at this also. i'll give it a whirl at the weekend.
Been a bit busy with paid stuff at the mo (it comes in waves) and have been drunk on disappointment with England s performance in the world cup.

Great idea! I'm very interesting Kids Linux distro, but downloading from filefront is like to be an hour of horror.
From links posted in this topic:

MD5: 69ad7a06974c2584787d3079aaae055d --> it disagrees with HanSamBen431.iso-md5.txt
SHA1: 8772764b6ffaccf7113ce0cf097654b6a8298802
Integrity test in PeaZip: all seems OK

Downloaded 0 bytes file
...........

You would be so kind reupload files on more reliable file server, for example netload.in, megaupload.com, ...?
It will be much simpler for many puppy-lovers, if you write here MD5 hashes.
Thx in advance

The kids summer camp I had been volunteer teaching at had one of their computers that just sat there...I hacked away at it and win 2000 had something or other wrong with it/corrupt, whatever...anyway, I asked the owner, she said go for it, so I repaired and added to it...
The OS of choice was this version of Puppy...full install, using dejan555's sfs installer for full installs and it rocks, looks great, etc.
Very well done, sidders. This has some great games, it will work wonderfully for that camp, and now they have another computer they can use. Nicely done!
