IBM distributes virus USB

" IBM distributes virus-laden USB keys at security conference

IBM has been left with egg on its face after it distributed virus-laden USB keys to attendees at Australia's biggest computer security conference.

Delegates of the AusCERT conference, held over the past week
at the Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, "

Well, if it's a security conference, none of the people who obtained those usb drives should have been dumb enough to blindly plug them into a Windows computer with autorun enabled.

Personally, I would be expecting something like that to happen as a joke to keep everybody on their toes. As my buddy Mad-Eye Moody always said, "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!"

Now let us be nice. After all, Barry K. is an ausey also!
And after running various versions of Puppy linux for 10 years+ I have never had a PC infection I can attribute to Puppy.
That includes plugging in a USB picture card that had a built in virus!
My virus checker in windows caught it.
Puppy did not allow it the base it needed to execute.

Hey don't be hard on 8-bit. I know someone from Oregon and they say that if you have a short time to live then move to Oregon because every day is a freaking eternity there.

Autorun STILL the WIndows default

#8 Post by benali72 »

What's amazing is that after all these years Autorun is STILL the WIndows default for USBs, CDs, DVDs, etc. MS picks ease-of-use over security every time..... still.

As soon as I can pass my I.Q. test I'm going to sue Bugman.

Well, if you're really running 8-bit... ;)

I recently found an old relic -- a Puppy 0.9.9 CD that I had burned...

What is even more amazing is how hard it is to turn it off for everything (Windows has a tendency to forget that you had turned it off, also).
